Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
TG is a major let down due to strategic blunders of central BJP leadership. Most of the leads for Congress you are now seeing could have been for BJP candidates, esp in North TG.
Anyone could see how strongly there was anti-TRS/BRS sentiment in the state was. Even 6 months ago, folks were not considering congress and wanted to give BJP a chance.
BJP shot itself in the foot by removing the aggressive street fighter type Bandi Sanjay as state president and going soft on CM's daughter Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam. His removal came that too after he became critical of her role in this scam and after he went on Padayatras like Annamalai in TN. A moronic decision before elections w/ extremely poor timing ! This breathed life into Congress, as it succeeded in convincing voters that BJP & BRS had a secret backdoor deal going on.
However, BJP was never strong in south-east regions like Khamam, Nalgonda, Warangal anyway and even if these mistakes weren't made it wouldn't have returned to power, could've ended up w/ 25-30 seats rather than a paltry number we are now seeing and been a king maker.
Party cadre were apparently demoralized prior to elections due to this weird change in strategy. Last minute dashes by Modi, Shah, Yogi were more or less revived some spirit, plus few tactics like SC sub-caste bifurcation & slogan of "BC" CM got them some positive press.
But it looks like people made up their mind to remove BJP from consideration a few months ago.

telengana looks like it will be a hung assembly. It would be good for the state, would be better than to make it an ATM for the con party.

According to NDTV compared to 2018
MP - BJP + 46, Congi -42
Rajasthan - BJP +35 Congi -30
Chhattisgarh BJP +33 Congi -27
Telangana BJP +7 Congi +49 BRS - 50 AIMIM -3
Overall it is a +BJP
I.N.D.I Alliance is a disaster.

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
BJP absolutely shot itself in the foot in TG and handed the lead to congress on a silver platter. I'm not saying they could have won the state but they left at least 25-30 seats on the table for congress. Strategic blunder from BJP.

I agree Suryagji, Dilbuji magic is 100% effective… Ab zor se we can say Dilbuji Zindabad!
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
If the current trends hold up to the final outcomes (BJP 3, CON 1), then it is a major disaster for the INDI alliance:
1. Congress is still unable to come even anywhere close to BJP in a straight fight
2. Wherever CON is strengthening is at the expense of its (potential) INDI alliance "partners"

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
BJP lost 6% votes in TG to INC compared to 2019 LS. Removing Bandi Sanjay led to the disaster which allowed INC a majority.
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Muslim vote shifted enmasse to Congress in both rural areas and many parts of Hyderabad. Owaisi bros only had a tenuous hold on Muslim vote beyond Old-city but they are now even trailing in some seats over there. Apparently mosques asked ppl to vote Congress or for MBT (a rival muslim party) to defeat Owaisis. Not entirely sure of the politics behind this call but from what we can see there have been no communal riots for several decades now makes these folks superfluous, plus they haven't done anything for their constituencies. Anyone who looks at their neighborhoods and goes to new city, will see how backwards they have been kept by this dynasty while they have personally prospered enormously.
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
BRS lost 4% votes, most likely Muslim votes to the INC in TG.

CONg leading in 65 seats but 38 of these are margins of less than 500 votes

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Yes there are 4-5 seats that is very close
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Regarding TG, looks like TDP has thrown it's weight behind INC which is a major factor in about 30 seats
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Well TDP leaders were put out of business with state split, many of them this was their to get back in power, they definitely could get the INC 12-15% of the vote share.

RoPers would have felt Cong(I) was a better bet. So, they must have voted en masse to Cong(I) camp. That affected even the AIMIM. I hope Akhilesh, Nitish, Mamata, Stalin, Kejriwal, Sharad Pawar are taking notes. Wish these dot alliance tur*s realize that they are chasing the same vote and Cong(I) may gain strength at their expense.
As an aside, BJP has improved its numbers, almost into double digits inspite of the Bandi Sanjay fiasco
How I wish nobody shows up Imagine how awkward will that bechetak wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023 15:06 panic in the congi ranks, panauti pappu's PM dreams in dire straits and fast fading......

Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress accused the Congress of having an entitled attitude and advised it to introspect. "This is not a success of BJP, this is total failure of Congress," said Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. "The Congress must come out from its 'zamindari mentality' and must share and implement the experience of other senior leaders like Mamata Banerjee," he added.
senior Janata Dal United leader KC Tyagi. "It has been made clear that the Congress cannot compete with BJP... The Congress will have to come out of this syndrome," he said.
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
cg was unexpected, even bjp sympathetic journos were giving it a max of lower 40s, regardless, raman singh should not be given the cmship again, his spectacular loss in 2018 does not inspire much confidence, he should be moved to the centre as mp and given party work, some other newer person must be tried out, ideally one who managed the booth workers at the end because save the pm's last minute assault, the party had nothing and would have lost quite haplessly

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Didn't he step down on his own as BJP Telengana State Party President due to involvement in an exam paper leak last summer?
Losing Telengana is bad for the BJP/NDA as the state has 4th or 5th highest per capita income near Rs. 3.10 lakh. The INC will now loot Hyderabad by pressuring wealthy companies & institutions, then get involved in theft of natural resources in the northern part of the state.

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Was there match-fixing between Modi & KCR and if so, why?
Outwardly, Modi said he wouldn't allow TRS to join the NDA because he was corrupt. But was this all to dispel the murmur about match-fixing?

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Bumper result for BJP/NDA, a result of hard work and superb planning on all fronts.
Regarding TG: it is not as if BJP "lost" the election. The party increased from 1 seat last time to 8 seats. As mentioned earlier, there is something else going on behind the scenes in TG BJP, which has been discussed by several reliable commentators in the last few months.
Several factors: desire to cut BRS down to size (KCR is out of power now), BRS cooperation to put away Kejriwal and co in the slammer, and potential understanding for LS 2024. Given the current results, BJP can certainly expect to get more than the 4 LS seats from last time. BJP leadership does not randomly pull the plug on campaigns. Mainstream media BS is not worth discussing.
This time I entirely skipped the exit poll and other election discussion. Normally reasonable posters turn into mush at these times, repeating the same cliches about BJP's lack of planning. Exit polls count for jack **** especially in VS elections, with small sample sizes and vote percentage errors between 3-5%. Most VS seats are decided by margins within that range, with many being less than 1% margins.
And the hate speech against Hindus continues from the same couple of posters, the moderators seem to be doing precious little. Do they not understand the meaning of hate speech, i.e. painting an entire community/religion as brainless, cowardly, stupid, etc? What's going on here ?

Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
Na, that was a farce. KCR tried to imitate Mamata Banerjee who also arrested a BJP top leader that was rising in popularity in a similar case. The SSC paper leak involved a person who was formerly a BRS/TRS activist who later joined BJP. And as a BJP party worker he had pictures w/ Bandi Sanjay, an imaginary collusion was created linking entire state BJP to this exam paper leakage. Many top leaders in state BJP were put under house arrest and Sanjay was whisked at the middle of night and thrown in jail (no dark day for democracy obviously as its a BJP leader). I doubt BJP leadership fell for it, this case went nowhere.Mort Walker wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023 19:37 Didn't he step down on his own as BJP Telengana State Party President due to involvement in an exam paper leak last summer?
Two silver linings from the TG assembly elections though:
-A BJP candidate Venkata Ramana Reddy defeated both past & future CMs KCR & Revanth.
-Another BJP candidate defeated BSP state chief RS Praveen Kumar, a former IPS, who made derogatory comments on Hindu gods & had school students take a pledge not to worship Hindu Gods.
Otherwise, all top BJP leaders have lost and its quite shameful.
I think BJP chose to self-destruct because they may have a tacit understanding w/ BRS to keep congress out, which majorly misfired as this strategy was poorly thought out. They threw Bandi Sanjay under the bus to appease KCR and even BJP cadre were openly talking about this.
Re: Assembly Elections - 2022 & 2023
It may be wise to wait a couple of months and see how BJP strategy develops in TG, rather than deliver a prompt judgement of poor strategy. It's not very reasonable that the BJP leadership pulled off kick-ass victories in three states (all of which required challenging management/stratgey) and at the same time bungled TG with such "obvious mistakes".OmkarC wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023 23:33 Otherwise, all top BJP leaders have lost and its quite shameful.
