With the 156 Prachand AoN, hope bulk-orders of Helina & Dhruvastra follow. The current plan is for the IA to order 500 Helinas, which is not enough for even our Rudra fleet
Re: Prachand LCH: News & Discussion: 03 October 2022
The current order of Helina is generally meant only for the Rudra fleet. The orders for the Prachand will materialize, when the platform itself is inducted. Currently on 5 LSP models have been inducted by IA and 10 by IAF.Prem Kumar wrote: ↑01 Dec 2023 14:26 With the 156 Prachand AoN, hope bulk-orders of Helina & Dhruvastra follow. The current order of 40 launchers and 500 missiles is inadequate even for our Rudra fleet of 91 helis. Yes, I am sure more orders will come but its dragging more than it should

Hat Tip to IAF for supporting Indigenous platforms. When the current chief took over 3 yrs ago, all we heard was MRFA. Now he looks to be the biggest supporter of desi platforms. Great day for our MIC.
Re: Prachand LCH: News & Discussion: 03 October 2022
I think now that we have our own platform and our own missiles are coming, having extra imported missiles in the interim is okay, like hellfire and brimstone. This will allow interoperability of missiles with the existing Apache fleet there is on the western front and also give us a good 20 km range till home made stuff arrives in numbers. Of course, integration and testing will take its own time.

Re: Prachand LCH: News & Discussion: 03 October 2022
Frankly speaking, I don't trust him. He has given a lot of Heart burn to me and there was a tectonic shift from ACM Bhadauria's initiatives.
As discussed in other threads, it is only after realization that 2024 elections are there and MRFA etc will not fructify , so lets get something before his retirement to brag about.
Re: Prachand LCH: News & Discussion: 03 October 2022
Is Prachand being operationalized when attack helicopters are becoming obsolete?

Apart from 7km Dhruvastra (45kg) ATGM twin/quad launchers, eventually larger SANT will be integrated as well.
Prachand would be able to easily carry three 10+km SANT (56kg) ATGM per hardpoint.
Based on this HAL poster, each hard point is rated at least 250kg.

Q. An order for 156 LCHs has been cleared...
A. We have manufactured 15 limited series production (LSP) helicopters and now the series production will begin. We have finalised the additional requirements. We want to deliver good numbers every year, instead of the normal 12 – 15. Our target will be to execute this order in the shortest possible time, in five to six years. That’s around 25 choppers per year.

AoN for 156 Prachands happened last year. If actual contract for those are signed, that itself is good news
Extra orders and all that can wait (even assuming the news is true)

Hopefully some thought has gone into the numbers keeping the upcoming theatrization in mind, If assets are going to be shared and under one chain of command then makes more sense to do orders based on overall need than each service's desiresRakesh wrote: ↑28 May 2024 19:34https://x.com/VivekSi85847001/status/17 ... 7858880813 ---> Modi Govt is set to approve a mega IAF deal for 156 Prachand attack choppers for Rs 45,000 crore, shortly after Lok Sabha Elections.

Really don't want to see the Apache debacle again
Re: Prachand LCH: News & Discussion: 03 October 2022
Doesn't matter. They're accounted on an accrual basis, not on cash basis. Even if they sit on receivables, or in the bank account, they're earning interest so it's not a problem. Capital cost can be an issue but HAL is cash rich these days. HAL recently declared record profits btw.

InshaGanesha, if Modi 3.0 happens, in the first CCS meet, some actual orders will be placed
Tired of seeing AoN after AoN, followed by a 2 years wait followed by contract negotiations between 2 Govt bodies which are both under MoD
And while they are at it, hopefully Helina/SANT/Dhruvastra will be ordered alongwith Prachands. We dont want 2 more years of "Prachands are without ATGMs" rhona-dhona

Re: Prachand LCH: News & Discussion: 03 October 2022
At least HAL nowadays is not foolishly giving back those profits to the GoI like in the years past! Increasingly, HAL has had to fund the full R&D and even build initial production lot with its own money. Armed Services are not paying on time. A trend that is becoming more normal than an outlier.JTull wrote: ↑30 May 2024 13:16Doesn't matter. They're accounted on an accrual basis, not on cash basis.
