jenab,
I suspect that the pakis would have passed off much of their old and expired munitions as serviceable stock, hoping that things got overlooked in the fog of war
Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Geopolitical Fallout
sirji,
UK allows large scale paki migration (98% puncherwallas) and US has always paid good money to the pakis
a win win for everyone as all parties concerned are dubious and deceitful
the greasy pakis often forget that they are permanently occupying the lowest rungs on the totem pole and are usually the first to get shafted when things go pear shaped

Wallace was one of Boris' favourites. His support for the Ukrainians was unqualified. I suspect that he resigned as he did not get the support from Sunak that he expected. Sunak makes the noises of supporting the Ukraine, but he knows that there is a lot wrong in the UK that he has to sort out as a higher priority which is why Wallace is no longer Def Minister. For example remember that Ukraine asked for Typhoons and all he said is that he will look into it. The RAF would like some more too!Tanaji wrote: ↑03 Oct 2023 17:33 Britain has run out of equipment to give:

This Ukraine fatigue has hit most European suppliers and even the Poles are having second thoughts. The French were not on song to start with and have lagged all the major Europeam countries in their supply to Ukraine.

Ironically some dumb EU countries are playing along with this funding thinking they will get some big reconstruction contracts once the war is over.
If Russia wins - most likely - they will get nothing
Else the Americans and Brits will own everything in whatever remains of Ukr.
EU will be left holding the pail.

Kevin McCarthy who was the speaker was the US House was ousted recently and it is now without a speaker. There is talk that unless a Speaker is elected, no more funding can be passed, which means after the current short term funding ends , Ukraine is not getting any money. In fact in order to avoid a govt shutdown even the current short term bill doesnt have Ukraine funding.

Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Geopolitical Fallout
The concerned powers will be weakened yes. Same as with with the French (Napoleon) and German (Hitler) attempts to expand eastwards. This war is puzzling in why they would expect to win against Russia when history indicates otherwise.
Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Geopolitical Fallout
The only explaination is that these people have been blinded by their coldwar victory over the USSR. Thinking that a resource and manpower depleted Russia will be a walkover.
Still we have a long way to go in this struggle.
Still we have a long way to go in this struggle.
Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Geopolitical Fallout
Russia is not resource depleted, that is what they are after. Reading the western press/media (I live in London) I just cannot understand how they thought they were going to win. What they have basically stated as their intent is this:
1/ when we talk to Russia, we are lying and playing for time (Angela Merkal & Francois Hollands "Negotiating in bad faith" comments).
2/ we intend to destroy your nation and split it up.
3/ we want our companies to be able to exploit your national resources.
4/ The Wolfowitz Doctrine is not official policy but unofficial policy
5/ The EU is the business arm of NATO
6/NATO will keep on expanding, it is to preserve Western/white supremacy
7/ if anyone can think of more please add.
Now as that as their stated intent, how do they think Russia, China and the world will react. Now they are openly talking about conscription, the ignorant UK public is having second thoughts.

Hungary accuses EU of blackmail over Ukraine aid stand-off
Hungary accused the European Union of blackmail after a leaked document reportedly suggested that the bloc plans to sabotage Budapest’s economy if it vetoes fresh aid for Ukraine at a summit later this week.
Hungary’s minister for EU affairs took to social media to lambast the paper drawn up by EU officials and cited Sunday by the Financial Times, which said that Brussels has developed a strategy to target Hungary’s economic weak spots and undermine investor confidence over its blockade of funds to Kyiv.
“Hungary does not give in to blackmail,” Bóka János wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Geopolitical Fallout
The people in a quandary are the EU. They have always said that they speak with a SINGLE diplomatic voice and that in all such matters an assault against one is an assault against all. What to do now, stand with their Hungarian brothers or throw throw the uppity Hungarians to the wolves. The first option makes them confront the US and the second shows all of the EU that they are really vassals now. All now for the public to see!

Re: Russian-Ukranian War: Geopolitical Fallout
The post 91 Russian economy was unable to transition successfully to peace time consumer driven economy. It's no wonder that they have adapted well to the western sanctions.
But the absence of consumer economy is going to create long term problems for Russians post the Ukraine war.
But that's not going to manifest itself for the next several years.

Their armaments industry has been sliding also - two of their biggest customers getting self reliant (and potential rivals).
And the declining population will make it even tougher for them (China has the same problem) while the US and Europe will keep attracting immigrants for the coming few decades at the least.
