Looking at news reports coming from TG, it appears massive rigging happened in Old city towards wee hours of the day, booths were locked, CCTV camera cables were cut, lots of bogus voting, Hindus not allowed to vote or their votes cast by Muslims, women in Burkhas were allowed to vote w/o any identity check. Looks like all this was ably assisted by local police at the behest of Congress party to please MIM.

Surprisingly no death to democracy here.

Madhavi Latha was almost overrun in one incident by a Lynch mob of hundreds of Momins, saved by a handful of CRPF jawans. Congress-MIM controlled local police instead filed an FIR against her for "lifting the Burkha" of a woman voter.

Based on what I've gathered:

Cong - 5 sure shot wins (Nalgonda, Khammam, Nagarkurnool, Peddapalli, Mahbubabad). BJP has done very well in the first 3, will get respectful %.

BJP - 5 sure shot wins (Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Zaheerabad, Malkajgiri).

Tough fight - 6 (Medak, Secunderabad, Chevella, Bhongir, Mahbubnagar, Warangal). At least 4 of these are leaning BJP. Sec'bad has become dicey due to low turnout. Bhongir has highest polling percentage, either could be due to massive funds/liquor pumped over past few days or BC community polarization towards BJP candidate. Chevella had large rural turnout and poor urban turnout which typically benefits congress in this case, but hard to say.

It seems to me that Modi in his third term may drop Nirmala Sitharaman from the ministry. I base it on the evidence thus far. She was asked to contest the Lok Sabha election which she declined. In contrast Piyush Goyal who is also a Rajya Sabha MP is contesting from Mumbai. He is a Chartered Accountant and a potential Finance Minister candidate. I feel that BJP wanted to field her from Trichy in TN. While it is winnable it would have been a very tough seat. So she may have hesitated. Recall that it was allotted to TTV Dinakaran's party at the last moment. My feeling is Modi wants to keep Rajya Sabha seats only for technocrats such as Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jaishankar while reserving other seats for candidates due to internal party compulsions.
