Heard that there are 2 casualties.
Maninagar (where the first blast took place) is the constituency of Gujrat CM Narendra Modi.

No of blasts goes up to 8 or 9.
No deaths so far, thank God.
One blast within a bus.

President "condemns" the blast. PM requests "not to create panic".

there are dead on tv. Bus bomb was not a small one looking at damage
Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
3 BJP ruled states, two of them economic powerhouses. I for one, won't be surprised if some mainstream political elements with jihadist leanings are hand in glove with the perpetrators.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
I would not so quickly condemn Manmohan Singh, the security situation in India is a nightmare it is acutually quite unbelievabe that there have been so few bomb attacks, considering the number of enemies that the state of India has. The security folks have a hard time tracking all the would be bombers. I mean if American with the most sophisticated Intelligence agency in the world could not stop 9/11 can we truly expect the CBI or CID to stop all terrorist attacks in India a nation of far greater population? This is not an excuse for the CID, they need to do a lot better, but lets have some perspective.
Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
vivek, the blame is not directly towards the agencies per se. given enough political backing (figure why) resources and some reform in the liaison structure, the agencies would perform much better than what they have done. but it is the govt's duty to ensure that the agencies get the right environment to do its job, in which they have failed miserably. the NDA one was better, but not by much.Vivek Sreenivasan wrote:I would not so quickly condemn Manmohan Singh, the security situation in India is a nightmare it is acutually quite unbelievabe that there have been so few bomb attacks, considering the number of enemies that the state of India has. Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
All of the blasts have taken place in Old City. Before Modi, low intensity blasts were common in Ahmedabad (not serial blasts though). Some one is upping the ante.

This is a direct challenge by IMs against Modi
by upping the Ante
If Modi is smart and I think he is
This time there will be no riots but rather more ruthless policing

Putting the blasts in perspective
Each year, 1% of the population dies of natural causes
Meaning 10 mil natural deaths a year
Almost like a nuclear war

Many of these people are badly injured as one can see from the TV pictures. At the same time, they are facing the situation with great fortitude. I sincerely wish they recover soon and get back to their loved ones.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
Actually the things are very well planned i guess. Everything started after UPA vote was over. I am leaning towards Rahul's thoughts about Jehadi leaning involvement. Usually the police in Ahmedabad is strict but the places of blasts are in old city which has huge IM population. Atleast few of them can collaborate. What is shocking is how well these bas**rds are able to co-ordinate all along. I guess the next one is Rajasthan or Himachal. As per the intensity of the blasts these blasts were common 15-20 years back when some notorious criminal gangs like Latifs and Wahabs were active before being gunned down by police in encounters.
Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
The Meenakshi Temple at Madurai has been in crosshairs for quite sometime. The TN police should be careful as the current environment may be conducive for an attack.vips wrote:news showing that centre has warned tamil nadu gov n security at meenakshi templ has been increased
Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad

From the pictures, it should be much more than 30 who are injured.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
Eight blasts rock Ahmedabad
The first two blasts were reported in Chakla area of Raipur and Maninagar. Then another blast was reported from Saranpur area of Raipur. Soon after another followed in Maninagar again.
Maninagar also happens to be the constituency of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Bapu Nagar and Diamond Market are in the Old City area which is very congested particularly on Saturday evening. One
A seventh explosion took place in Sakrej. Though details are not known, there are reports that the bomb here went off in CNG bus.
In another market near Sabarmati River, eyewitness accounts suggest that two men were seen throwing a bag near the shops. Immediately after there was an explosion.
Delhi, Mumbai, and other metros are already on the high alert. Tamil Nadu has also been put on high alert after indications that the ancient Meenakshi Temple may be on target. Security has been beefed up at all major temples as a precautionary measure.
Unconfirmed sources are suggesting that an organistaion called Indian Mujahideen had warned of a wave of violence.
Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
The number of blasts has dramatically gone up to 17 now.
Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
I just spoke to people in ahmedabad, all are saying this is very similar to banglore blast. They seems to think this is very well related to what our NSA said few weeks ago after blast in kabul. They also fear that it may also to incite commnal riot as again one more BJP rule state. I am pretty sure hunt will start in gujarat, as our CM is no manmohan...I hearing more than 17 total blast, hopefully no more...All blast are eastern part of town except place call juhapura..I
am pretty sure mother fuc**** paki needs to be paid, or IM who did this...But what am i kidding when we have jack a** as a prime minister.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
Blast count is 17 now!!(IBN) Maybe highest in 61 years of our 'indedpendence' You add yesterday's 6 and we have 23 in 2 days. Which other country has faced such kind of attack with such precision and coordination. If this is not war, what is?
Every district in India (having brothers) has a support infrastructure in-place for terrorist activities. One can be reasonably sure that local police might be aware of a number of known Mujahideen. Cannot some of these lovers of Allah die of 'natural' causes every time innocent Indian civilians are killed.
If RAW and all are capable of executing people in foreign lands why not in India. Why limit the war to limited fronts when the enemy has brought it on our doorsteps.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
Same reasoning as applicable to B'looru. Security in A'bad as applied to "other community" is pretty tough, yet blasts occurred. BRF janta need to stop the habit of jumping to conclusions and start thinking.
So why did these guys succeed in breaking through the security? Possibly because they are not IM or PM, but CPIM?
Who benefits from blasts in A'bad? Who benefits from anti-Muslim riots in BJP-ruled states?
I think the urgency for these blasts is that IAEA Board meeting is tomorrow, and NSG will be looking at waiver for India. A riot / war situation would be soooooo good to "save" the opponents of the nuke deal, having got their musharrafs kicked in Parliament. Pakistan is NOT who benefits from this, because the blasts actually will generate sympathy for India's security predicament, and generate strong support for India's need for a new clear detergent. But if riots are forced to occur... it's a different ballgame.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
My thoughts are with all the affected.
If Modi-ji is what he is, he should identify and kill the perpetrators in police encounters and catch the political leaders behind it for court trials... show the rest of India how this menace to be handled. Let the center focus on defence and external threats. Let the states focus on Internal threats... Same as the AP Gray Hounds cleaning Maoist threats in AP.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
HUJI coordinated some 500 (yes!) low-intensity serial blasts within a few hrs all over BD last yr. The expertise exists and could easily be sold traded across borders to any interested anti-Dilli groups.
Yup, kolkata does appear to be the only 'safe' big city in India these days.
Still, cant help wonder if post NSA's "Kill ISI" statement, these cells have been activated?

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
will the CPI(M) co-operate with delhi in rooting out logistical and transit nodes in kolkata?
I doubt it.
maybe like the US, some nationalist elements of the WB police (who did not get their
jobs under party quota) be weaned away from coverup duty and aligned more with
national ideas while cpim=musharaff continues to strike peace deals.
just like Pakistan, letting the serpents prosper in WB will have a serious blowback soon.

Re: Blasts in Ahmedabad
We should consider all in a days work and move on, India is too big for these small pinprick attacks. They can not stop India's way of life, If we stop our habit of chalta hai, then the terrorist have succeeded. At any cost we cant play into their hands and play games. About PM there are more serious issues on the PMs desk more than India's internal affairs of few dozen bombs going off here and there . You know they are fizzles so far no major damage. We have CBI, R&AW, IB, DRI, NSA , all people are over worked CBI still with quotarchi, and various scams, R&AW are busy ssquabling promotions honey traps, sugar daddy's, DRI is still playing the parliament videos in slow motion to find out the parabolic trajectory of the bundle of currency leaving the hand of thrower like in quarterbacks hand in American foot ball and drooping into running backers hand...
NSA is still talking about Kabul case no not the current one the IA hijack....
India works slowly but surely you will have answers in couple of decades.....
Please be patient and dont contribute to panic.

Naxalites have spread their tentacles as far west as Karnataka & Bangalore in recent months. So the possibility of naxals being involved can't be ruled out .. although a group 'Indian Mujahideen' (yawn) has taken responsibility for Guj blasts already.
What are the events forthcoming on the calender ?
US invasion of FATA areas. Massing up on NATO troops at Pakistan's frontier province.
What are possible forthcoming incidents ?
Tackling Bangladeshi illegals issue as a precursor to eradicating that menace before HuJI sleeper cells get entrenched and can act against Indian Interests in case of an invasion on Pakistan.
Can anybody think of other precursors ? Because this incidents have been manufactured with an eye on the future.
this is yet another precursor. But why should ISI cells be activated only against BJP states when it is Congress-ruled Govt that NSA reports to. Or possibly they think that Congress-ruled states can be targeted later after the confusion is entrenched.vsudhir wrote:Still, cant help wonder if post NSA's "Kill ISI" statement, these cells have been activated?
In which case the so-called ISI is taking its last lap.
