Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Never heard about that one, but it is quite possible that such a photograph might be there with someone. The ''josh'' in the army was quite high that winter (just look at the photo by jagan sir - beautifully captures the confidence of an army on its way to a sure victory). Given the fact that we were winning and also the charismatic leadership of Sam Manekshaw, one would not rule out what you are talking about.

You need to start a (free) account on photobucket.com or imageshack.com and upload the pics there and then link them on here.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is that digital cammo? Its beautiful. I'm tired of seeing Chinese soldiers in smart digital cammo while in some pics you will see 5 Indian soldiers wearing 6 different uniforms.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
They look sharp. More power to them.

The Tajik army looks very un-army like, with a shabby dress and long unkempt hair.

Apparently this is a photo of Indian Navy Il-38 and RAFO (Royal Air Force of Oman or Sultans Armed Forces) Jaguar. Can anyone confirm if this is an Indian navy aircraft in the picture?

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Sir, I think I saw the above ^^ pic of Jaguar in a book, with a caption about a Soviet Navy IL-38 May being intercepted by a Omani Jaguar. I recollect thie incident being in mid to late 1980s. I think it had some thing to do with a Soviet May having entered Omani waters while shadowing a USN CVBG in the area.

that is the old soviet style blouse/shirt - used to be standard, but i don't think the russians wear it anymore. the hair looks ok, probably just took hats off recently... ultra short hair is no longer the norm in many forcesAdityaM wrote:http://livefist.blogspot.com/2009/09/jo ... mount.html

The CRPF CoBRA - Commando Battalion for Resolute Action
This is supposedly the best equipped para-military force in India. Rs 1300 crores were granted for weapons and see what the end soldier fights in - no BPJ, not even a helmet, no backpack and most of all - civilian clothes ? And this is the encounter where they are expecting 200 heavily armed Naxals on the prowl.
