Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
nice collection sameer. would you mind giving us a tutorial in the graphic arts thread in GDF ?
btw, in the tanks pic you have used the mech-inf regiment symbol. the armoured regiments will use their own symbols.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Just a minor nit-pick--as Rahul M has pointed, you should remove the badge of Mechanized Infantry Regiment(MIR) from the wallpaper with Tanks. The MIR guys are the ones with BMP-I/II;Armored Corps guys are the ones responsible for tanks....but here you may face a peculiar problem;AFAIK, there is no single symbol/Badge for Armored Corps in IA. Each Regiment of the Corps has its own Badge...sameer_shelavale wrote:sorry for the bad link it was a typo,

Added later: May be you can use the name/formation sign of the Armored Division in the wallpaper...

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Sameer, really nice work on the wallpapers. Thanks! Now if you could only do one of the IAF...
One little point however about the last one with the tanks. IA Mechanized Infantry regiments don't operate T-72s AFAIK. The pic should have been captioned Armoured Brigade (or regiment..I'm not really sure.. ). rohitvats can probably tell you which unit those tanks are from.
EDIT: As I see I was a little too late. rohit saar beat me to it.

I got the badge from
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanised ... y_Regiment
shall I remove the badge and regiment Name ?
btw, there are t-90s in the image as well, at least wiki says so, I had used base image from wiki

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
I think it is advisable...as for the T-90 and T-72 and other tank, they come under the Armored Corps...and as the wiki page on the MIR says, MIR is a Infantry(albeit Mechanized) Regiment of IA.....sameer_shelavale wrote:I got the badge from

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
ok
I have removed the badge and replaced "Mechanized Infantry Regiment" with "Armored Corps".
That makes it accurate.

The actual missile was not on display. Just the canister with a dummy cone on top on a TEL vehicle. There is a link posted to it somewhere on this thread.Murugan wrote:shaurya missile was on display at RD parade at Rajpath.

FYI... that's Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik and not Major PV. NaikCraig Alpert wrote:For what it's worth, IAF Major P.V. Naik, seems to stand out the most amongst the three. Looks like he's got the most balls. Is it because the IAF is the most capable adversary out there in the Asian Region???
Following him is the Admiral Verma maybe because the Navy is still well off unlike the Army, who is always running short or well everything from arti, to ammo, to even hearing now a days!

I have heard umpteen first person accounts of CAS Naik and have met him too..so I can tell you he s one tough, no nonsense taking, hard hitting, "verbal" fighter pilot who hates everyone who s not a fighter pilot..

What if they were Pakistani regulars?Marten wrote:Why are they still "suspected" after a gun fight? It's not like our soldiers shot first and then declared them militants. It has not been fully confirmed that they are not pigs who have escaped from the pile of pigswill to the west of India. If you look at the photo carefully the carcass is being carried like that of an animal. The only reason for not dragging it along the ground is that pigs are good to eat.Marten wrote: Why are they still "suspected" after a gun fight?
