Finally to LCH for the last for some days, before I post again -

Sleek lines of the LCH are seen in the below one -

One more video - IJT
Thanks a million for this. What a gem of a machine!!! Absolutely fantastic and the pilot's confidence in the machine comes out very clearly in the demo. I hope it gets manufactured in sizable numbers.

The IOC for the IJT is due July 2011 which still does not mean its inducted into the IAF.
The vibes i got from SKAT was its going to take time. :| :|

I would put late 2012 - 2013 as the earliest date for re-birth of SKAT.

Something i havent understood is the IOC for sitara ? Why do we need an IOC for this aircraft cant it be FOC in one go, its not like it has to demonstrate a number of weapons/radar/countermeasures then where is the need for IOC. I think they already underwent or are undergoing spin tests which i think is generally done last in the envelope expansion so where is the need for an FOC

I would be very surprised if SKAT forms till the Sitara has spent a fair bit of time in service. assuming it will be the Sitara.

Reason is that the SKAT guys hammer the engine and they need to have an aircraft and engine which is reliable.

The Sitara is new and the engine is new so even if Sitara is cleared lets say in 2011, they will wait for sometime till its in service in numbers and see how it does.

So I think it will be realistically more like 2015 before SKAT starts reforming. Let them take their time - we need the IJTs for more important things

Nice work, Praveen, Rahul, Vishal, and others.

Did some work in-flight - here are some of the offerings for a sneak preview..........for now. 8)

Starting with the Tejas: Since the ADA/HAL folks fitted it with Smokewinders - went for some wide-angle shots that had some different smoke creations/angles in it, and couple of tight ones.
The very large watermarks takes away the beauty of the shot. Maybe a smaller more non obtrusive water mark would be better. Esp the image of those 2 plans in the background.

I received a lot of email of similar nature - but - its just that in India - there is a lot of
lift-and-grab done by some publications which rise from the woods during the time of Aero
India. Its just to protect my stuff against these guys.

I am moving my stuff to my regular smugmug site - where it is better protected. You can watch the pics without the watermarks below -

As usual, beautiful photos. Thanks. You have to protect your photos from photo-chors and it is just par for the course to have some intrusive watermarks.

Thanks Kedar - I really do appreciate your sense of sharing works of art. It seems such a shame when some people release tame and boring pictures and reserve better ones for media who then hold a copyright over the images.

Unmanned helicopters

Post by Avinandan »

Is there any word from IAI guys regarding the NRUAV (unmanned chetak) ? They seem to be focussed on the new Panther series UAV.
There is news regarding unmanned Dhruv now.

Talked to IAI VP Yair Ramati during AI 2011. He was pretty tight lipped about their dealings in India and joint-development stuff. But he was pretty happy to talk about Panther tilt-rotor UAV. He told us that they had designed it specifically for tactical ops at battalion level and would be good in border patrol and intelligence gathering operations for border security forces. No word about pitching it to the forces. When asked about offer to para-military forces, he was evasive.

Awesome stuff Kedar!!!

http://kedar.smugmug.com/AeroIndia2011/ ... 1482_H8qvK

I don't know if it is the angle or the powerful zoom in this picture... It feels as if I am flying right next to it especially when I see it in full screen. I love the fact that the paints are chipped as it make the image that much more interesting...

For me, this is the best one of the lot.

Fantastic stuff!!!
Thanks.
