Such a click bait Russia already supplied bastion (land based Yakhont) and even help setup radar installations in Vietnam to essentially hit Chinese ships so did “Russia defy China their supposed ally by supplying Bastion?”
And no we are not supplying to vietnam they already have Yakhont.
Big day! Philippines to sign $350 million contract with India for BrahMos anti-ship cruise missile — India’s first major weapon sale. Owing to systemic reluctance & lack of policy clarity, BrahMos exports haven’t happened despite outside interest for well over a decade.
^ Great to hear. May our exports rise much higher and much faster than our imports..

And in no small measure due to the earlier administrations not wanting to take on the Chinese nor upset the Russians by treading on their turf...
I would wish we end up exporting tejas to malyasia too. Last year in dec social media chatter suggested uts a strongly likely but of late there has been no news. If any some chatter seems to have suggested to the contrary.
Considering that its only in the 8th year of Modi that the Brahmos sale happened, it shows the depth of the institutional mental rot & pusillanimity. There was a tweet that mentioned that even for this sale, there was reluctance from the MEA.
Frankly, that doesn't surprise me. The babudom is thoroughly compromised & dhimmi. A lot more house-cleaning left to do.

But today is a day to be celebrated!!
https://twitter.com/TheLegateIN/status/ ... uz27MxPTVg ---> Report: India's export of BrahMos cruise missiles to Philippines was initially questioned by the Indian MEA, which evidently was worried it could upset the Chinese government!
https://twitter.com/FrancesGM_/status/1 ... uz27MxPTVg ---> Philippines and India sign P18.9-B deal for BrahMos anti-ship cruise missile system for the Philippine Navy. The Philippines is the first foreign buyer of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles.
In 20-21 , exports were at ~8400 crores or roughly $1billion.
In the last decade. the big ticket items so far are Brahmos, Swathi , and Humsa. With a target of $5Billion in 2025, seems like a huge challenge for the government.
In comparison, US does $100Billion a year or thereabouts.
Still missing orders for Akash, the suite of radars we have, and our missiles - the products higher up the value chain and having large potential for separate services/MRO agreement. Astra being contemporary, has the potential to bring in significant revenue. A squadron of LCA export orders would be a big event but doubt we would have capacity until 2026.
( Standard whine : Netra on Embraer would have been a excellent mid-range AEW for smaller countries)
We need Indian equivalent of Rosoboronexport. One agency to manage all military and aerospace exports. Just not do the Dewas deal thing all over again.

Bogeyman Xi is forcing all East Asian country to start arming in rapid pace the recent Frigate deal that Indonesia signed is quite crazy. Our SY need to start trying to tap into that market and offer up some platforms.
“In 2021-22, we have recorded Rs 13,000 crore of exports, which is the highest ever number that we have ever recorded in defence,” Additional Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjay Jaju said on Friday.
A major export deal inked in January this year was the $375 million (Rs 2,770 crore) contract to export BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines, which will pave the way for more such deals with the country as well as other Asean countries like Indonesia and Vietnam, as was reported earlier by TOI.
The arms exports in 2021-22 were almost eight times of what they were about five years back. India’s defence exports amounted to Rs 8,434 crore in 2020-21, Rs 9,115 crore in 2019-20 and Rs 2,059 crore in 2015-16.
The Philippines is looking at procuring a batch of advanced light helicopters from India to crank up its combat capability, months after sealing a USD 375-million deal to acquire three batteries of the BrahMos cruise missile.
https://twitter.com/TheLegateIN/status/ ... SH_Fmdvlsw ---> Report: India is also keen to set up an MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facility in the Philippines to provide services to its civil and military aircraft.
Recently in June, a defence delegation from the Republic of Armenia visited India, meeting with their counterparts here. The delegation came armed with a shopping list. While little is known about its contents, drones have been confirmed to have figured prominently on the list. But not drones alone, an official confirmed without going into any further details. This is not the first time that Armenia has evinced interest in Indian military hardware. In 2020, it concluded a deal with India worth 40 million for the supply of four indigenously built weapon-locating radars. The SWATHI radars have been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Since then, Armenia’s defence requirement has grown exponentially.
Korea's FA50 hits air pocket, India's Tejas may soar with Malaysia Air Force
Sources in both India and Malaysia defense industry have confirmed to TOI that the finance ministry of the country has sent back the proposal on purchasing 18 FA-50 jets asking KAI to adhere to the base price of 3.5 billion Ringgit Malaysia. KAI had pegged the price at RM 4.2 billion, way above the Chinese JF-17 price at RM 3.4 Bn and India’s indigenously built Tejas-MARK1, RM 3.75 Bn
https://twitter.com/TheLegateIN/status/ ... x8UzuoCuUA ---> Report: Egypt which is in talks with India for licensed manufacture of Tejas Mk1A has chosen the Egyptian state owned company, Arab Organization for Industrialization (API) as the potential licensed manufacturer.
According to retired Air Marshal Phillip Raj Kumar, IAF pilots on two-year deputations had trained Iraqi cadets on MiG-21s at the flying academy in Tikrit and conducted operational fighter, transport and helicopter conversions at other bases in that country. In a fascinating account in mid-2017 of his time in Iraq on the Bharat Rakshak website, operated by military enthusiasts, the former three-star IAF fighter pilot stated that the IAF training teams in Iraq had included Pilot Attack Instructors, followed by Fighter Combat Leaders.
the order includes the first-ever export of the indigenous Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers that are already in service with the Indian Army. The potent weapon has been designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and is manufactured by private sector companies in India. The Army has recently placed orders for six additional Pinaka regiments and is testing extended range rockets as well.

Sources in the defence and security establishment confirmed that the government-to-government contract, valued at about Rs 2,000 crore, was signed earlier this month and that the supplies would be fast tracked as per the requirement.
While the exact quantity is not known, the order includes the indigenous Pinaka system, ammunition and anti-tank rockets.
This is the first international order for the system, which was developed by the Defence Research and Development organisation (DRDO). The multiple rocket launcher is already in service with the Army and has been deployed along the borders with China and Pakistan.
The ex-Soviet republic had bought four indigenous Swathi weapons locating radar in 2020 from India which was delivered in the backdrop of its conflict with Azerbaijan.
Currently, India exports defence equipment to 75 countries and this includes weapon simulators, tear gas launcher, torpedo loading mechanism, alarm monitoring & control, night vision monocular & binocular, light-weight torpedo & fire control systems, armoured protection vehicle, weapons locating radar, high-frequency radio, coastal surveillance radar among others.
South American nation Argentina stands out among the countries expressing their interest in the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas. Mired in a fierce diplomatic struggle against the United Kingdom (UK), Argentina has been unable to modernise its defence forces. While the US has offered them second-hand F-16s with modest modernisation, it is keen to equip itself with more formidable combat aircraft for starters. And aircraft might be the start.
Top diplomatic sources confirmed to Financial Express Online that top military officers led by the Argentine Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Juan Paleo will be visiting the DefExpo in Gandhinagar to scout around for different platforms and weapons India has to offer. Besides visiting the pavilion of Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), he and his officers will also meet top officials of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) during the expo.
Diplomatic sources have also confirmed that pilots of the Argentine Air Force have been to the HAL facility to test the LCA `Tejas’ in Bengaluru and General Juan Paleo and his team will also be stopping over in Bengaluru at the HAL facilities on their way back to New Delhi. The team is expected to test with its pilots the helicopters on offer by HAL, especially the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand.
Financial Express Online had reported in 2021 that HAL had offered the LCA Tejas to Argentina. However, fearing the UK arms embargo, Argentina has tasked HAL to find alternatives for any components from the UK being used in the LCA Tejas. This task includes finding a replacement for the UK-origin ejector seats.
They are expecting larger orders from the army/iaf
Naval guns typically have more complex feeds, but this is already a ciws. Two units to indonesia is nice, but the real money is still indian army & iaf
