There were some conflicting reports about installing RAN 40 in INS Vikrant
Where are the Barak launchers ? Control radar for Barak ?
Barak launchers are supposed to be installed during the current refit along with the MF-STAR. Location is I believe in front of the superstructure and aircraft lift, sort of in the corner where the deck narrows. The control radar for it is the MF-STAR itself. what else do you need?
Sorry it may be stupid question ?
Is Barak 8 / MRSAM / LRSAM guided to its target by MFSTAR ? Does it have any self guidance ?
https://twitter.com/TheLegateIN/status/ ... 12565?s=20 ---> Report: Powerplant of INS Vikrant aircraft carrier now equipped with latest Infrared Suppression (IR) systems to minimize chances of detection of aircraft carrier by enemy IRST and FLIRs.
====================================
https://twitter.com/Varun55484761/statu ... 65507?s=20 ---> Very good news. Indian Navy to get counter-drone systems for warships. Navy issued RFI for this. Navy looking for soft kill system. Probably INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant will get it first. Should have 360°coverage through integral radar for aerial and surface target.
https://twitter.com/Varun55484761/statu ... 77163?s=20 ---> The radar should have capability for detection and tracking of Mini/Micro drone at 5 km or more, and intercept them while identifying the direction of the drone’s signals.
VIDEO:https://x.com/DefProdnIndia/status/1722 ... 02866?s=20 ---> A historical milestone towards Aatmanirbhar Defence. The first ever Indigenous Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikrant, designed by the Indian Navy's in-house Warship Design Bureau. Built with state-of-the-art automation features, it is the largest ship ever built in India's maritime history.
As per plan, it took more than a year for INS Vikrant to become operational as she was commissioned on 02 September 2022. Tweet below is from Captain DK Sharma (retd), former PRO (Public Relations Officer) of the Indian Navy. She will soon embark the Sikorsky MH-60R (arguably the "Rolls Royce" among ASW helicopters) and retire the Westland Sea King Mk42 from frontline service. The next major milestone to achieve will be integrating the Rafale M on-board. Exciting times ahead for her crew.
https://x.com/CaptDKS/status/1725157979601965465?s=20 ---> INS Vikrant is fully operational as per media reports. Great going Indian Navy and best wishes to each and every sailor who sails on her & aviator who embarks her.
The Indian Navy accomplished a watershed moment with flawless UAV landing and take-off tests on INS Vikrant, demonstrating a leap in maritime capabilities that would be deployed for the Milan naval wargames in February 2024.
Judging by the dimensions of VLS caps against humans in background, looks like point defense SAMS and not MRSAM? But I hope I am wrong! With “Houthis” acting up, it is good they got these to go live for early deployment shakedowns!

https://x.com/IN_R11Vikrant/status/1741 ... 01102?s=20 ---> INS Vikrant witnessed a change of helm with Captain Birendra Singh Bains, VSM assuming command from Captain Vidhyadhar Harke, VSM in an impressive change of command divisions on-board.
https://x.com/delhidefence/status/17414 ... 20495?s=20 ---> Captain (Commodore) Birendra Singh Bains, assumed command from of the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant (R11) as her second CO from Captain (Commodore) Vidhyadhar Harke. Captain BS Bains had earlier served as the commissioning CO of INS Visakhapatnam.
https://x.com/VishnuNDTV/status/1762487 ... 11064?s=20 ---> And for radar and sensor freaks, here is the first clear picture of the forward MF-STAR array on INS Vikrant, recently installed and likely being validated. She has also received her Barak 8 MRSAM launchers.
