+1
Need to learn from Unkil, they had embedded journalist in Iraq and live telecasted shock & awe. All this 15 years back. And in 2019 we are debating about "PR" when it should be psycops from day 1.

I never said media is not important, i said victor gets to dictate. In our case, URI SS is a good example. What I mean was, we shouldn't take hasty steps worrying about PR.
Cain Marko wrote:The longer India takes to respond, the less likely will it's response be effective esp. In terms of making any PR difference. Modis tactics now will determine his fate as the public opinion that was so in his favor is now being challenged by the opposition in the open.
My guess is that it all depends upon the objective.... Is the plan to allow tsp and esp, the military there to save face with the current situation or put them in their place and make them benikaab by doing something? The latter will look good and seems like the only way forward, what was the point of the ss2 if the enemy hasn't still got the message?
It's completely playing chicken now and the side that blinks first loses.
Can we please stop worrying about PR and all ? We are in a war, objectives matter, PR will be dictated by the victor, just like history.
Look man, whether you like or not. War has not yet been declared so much of this has a very big PR element to it. And ultimately what is the objective? To teach tspa lesson. If so, the question remains had the lesson been learnt? Many would say no considering paks shenanigans today.
Rhthya, Indian media will be informing Pakistan.
Bdutt already did.
Please everybody stop second guessing the GOI.
If you all are that great you would be in it. Not here.
The stars are lining up....the relative economic strength, the vast Indian hinterland, massive Indian air power, US, Canada, EU, Iran and Afghanistan, not to include Israel, all rooting for India, a potent Indian navy. The politicians in Delhi won't be stopping this soon.
However they need to have objectives. Do not waste air resources on anything that is within 155mm artillery or Pinaka reach. Do not waste resources on cratering runways. Make the birds fly with feints from three directions and pick off one branch with air dominance Sukhois.
based on flightradar images, it seems there is a ring fence around pakistan few hundred km wide...
PS: Is it just me who thinks that that ring is widening
We are all projecting our wishes of constant update, "good PR" etc on the govt.
You are only going to be more disappointed.
This govt has a hostile media that is looking to trip it and trap it. It will only give specific stuff out when it feels necessary. Vastly different from Massa media which knowingly did drumbeat on non existent WMD.
'We are so proud of him': Captured IAF pilot's father pens message:
"Thank you my friends for your concern and wishes. I thank God for his blessings, Abhi is alive, not injured, sound in mind, just look at the way he talked so bravely...a true soldier... we are so proud of him. I am sure all your hands and blessings are on his head , prayers for his safe return, I pray that he does not get tortured, and comes home safe and sound in body and mind. Thank you all for being with us in this hour of need. We draw our strengths from your support and energy," said former Air Marshal Varthaman, the father of Abhinandan, the IAF pilot who was captured by Pakistan this afternoon.
on flightradar, There are few odd sign plane that pops up on paki airspace, when i click on it, it shows a helicopter and then after few minute it vanishes

All in good time Sir. Don't underestimate Paki stupidity and propensity to don a soosai vest
pilot captured has changed to mood of people (evident from various WA groups). Not everyone understands what war actually means. We need to keep this aggressive posture.
This should be a slow.. slow... war... degrading their capability one by one.. ruining their economy in progress.
Siege on pak would be great but it's impossible to accommodate 200 million jihadists in Indian mainland. Also porkies would choose to sell themselves to China instead.
Provided that china is much more ruthless to jihadis then anything else.
An IAF Bison shot down an F-16 with a Close Combat missile the R-73 and during the pursuit crossed the LC and was brought down by ground fire. It was classic aerial action and of great significance that an F-16 was downed by an IAF Mig-21. IAF not perturbed at all-expected!

Corroboration from ex-IAF pilot is good enough:

1/2 Here is the fineprint so far. A large package of F-16’s headed for a bgde hq and an ammo dump in the Naushera sector was intercepted as soon as it crossed the LC, well short of its intended target by a combination of SU-30s and Mig-21 Bisons. One section of 3 F-16s.
And as said earlier by various posters in similar vein:
That is very very big!
A Mig-21 taking down F-16 is the first engagement of a western fighter with a soviet-era fighter post-Cold war. And a soviet-era fighter taking down a frontline fighter (F16) is testament to the skill and training and morale of Indian fighter pilots.
Praying for a safe return of WingCo and back to active duty.
All I can say is wow! Just wow! I do not understand the dhoti-shiver of jingoes. It is the Bakistani Fizzleya who are browning their salwars!
FizzleYa's F-Solahs are rendered as toothless, boneless chickens. Many abhinandans to WingCo Varthaman'ji.
The thing is Pak could have just extended their PR saying India was lying about the strike on Balakot and nothing happened. Do it like they did during SS. And it was not stuck on a millitary target. They could easily used PR. We also said there will not escalation.
But they went ahead with a hurried A2G strike on a target on LoC, without completing it, other than shooting down a Mig21.
Fell in to trap of what we really want to do. Grind the Pak millitary down, when their economy is on knees.
Now we will hit them hard, unless they will forced to call for ceasefire.

What happens if their airspace is kept vacant for 3 days? Anything that pops up, we shoot it down. Rinse and repeat for 3 days.
In effect, we have enforced a no-fly zone all over Bakistan!
And Cheen is not going to come to their aid. US has abandoned them. Former-UK is more worried about Brexit. France is going to be chair of UNSC and is reported to be looking to isolate Bakis in UNSC.
shyamal wrote:As long as we cannot show the debris or a POW it is not much use to talk about the F16 - just my feeling.
^^Classic dhoti-shiver. Who are we going to show the debris? At the drop of hat, our own people want "proof", "visuals", "updates by minute" etc.
An interceptor's primary role is to intercept, not provide visuals to arm-chair warriors sitting behind screens.
If people want visuals, please go watch Uri movie.

Very disappointed by attitudes of forum members.
You want display of series?
Same attitude of British Military Intel when Gurkhas returning from night patrols demanded proof of Nazi kills.
Please leave the forum.

You can return later.

What if Pakis indeed return him say tonight?
They are pakis. They won't. That's how they think and that's who they are. But we will repay their gratitude by returning all their pilots we shoot down.

We need to publicly declare the no-fly zone enforcement now if that is true
Without declaring it in public, the effect is lost
