The need for LPH in the navy is felt after the 2004 Tsunami. The purchase of the INS Jalashwa was mainly as a training platform for amphibious operations. The capability should be exist to project power, also to quick deploy amphibious brigades with air support. (piracy,Operation Cactus kind of situ...

Regarding helicopters IMHO we lived this far without Apaches, and I don’t think a squadron of gold plated apaches will make that much difference. Note that only half of these have the long bow radar. A war time loses will be high as far as chopper fleet is concerned for IA/IAF, this is mainly becaus...

Arjun Mk-2 is certainly a better tank, the mine plough, new tracks, porposed new engine, active protection system and amor make it a step ahead of the Type-10. I could not see how the above mentioned items make Arjun MK-2 Superior. Any way We are not comparing Arjun MK2 with Type-10. They had also ...

Japanese have developed the Type-10 Tank which almost has everything Army wants from FMBT and still weighs 48 tonns only. They are about to begine the production of the above tank. It has a Autoloader with 3 member crew and a 120 MM Smoothbore gun. If DRDO can produce a Arjun varient similar to type...

If DRDO Says they will test Nirbhay in April we can expect the test by around December this year. :) But again most of the systems are perfected on Lashya, hence there wont be much delay. And again Uncle may insist the F-35 + E2D buy in return for selling the catapult tech for ADS2.

The shelters should be made for all the aircraft's in the IAF not only the Su-30 MKI's. Actually IAF should have created provisions for this in the MAFI project which is happening right now.
In forward bases we should have the Concrete shelters which can withstand cruise missile attacks.

Re: LCA News and Discussions
All the future variants of LCA will depend on the fact that how fast the HAL can produce the aircraft.
The IAF has requirements for LCA class of aircraft, but they are not going to wait for ever for the aircraft. As the LCA delays its orders will be eaten up by MRCA and FGFA aircraft's.

Both are my favorites for the competition. Dokodo is smaller than mistral having 14,300 tons empty where as Mistral empty weight is around 16500 tons. Mistral can carry more helicopters almost up to 30.
