Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous

My dumb question 8) why do we need 20+ commissioned officers in a 'regular infantry' battalian? is it a good thing(for the country and officer cadre) to have more than 5 senior officers(15+ years exp Lt Cols) in a unit. did army explore the possibility of building a better JCO cadre to takeover many...

If the scenario happens before 2014 election and Pak joins the war, is it not a good idea to allow places like south block/race course road etc to be nuked by Pakistan. atleast after all these years its one good thing pakistan could do for the people of india.. may be as a CBM :)

What about hitting 3 Gorges with Agni II with conventional war head. It wont destroy the dame but will send a message strong enough to stop further escalations. You hit me again, I will take out the dam and a dozen of your cities will be washed away.

If any mobilization happens, the Trivandrum based amphib. brigade (part of 54ID) should come into play. Also, it will be interesting to see from where the 54ID elements are airlifted. It is exactly for situations like these that we need to have an airmobile Bde. sized Rapid Reaction Force available...

There has to be trust between the Army Chief and the government. At this point the trust has been broken, endangering India's security. Would it make sense for India to acquire AC-130 type gunships for mountain warfare? My take on this is that if provided sufficient aircover, the AC-130 with 105 mm howitzers can pick out targets that are hard to reach for ground based howitzers, also they could stay out of range of potential MANPAD...
