Re: C-17s for the IAF?

Devesh Rao, Honestly, your statement regarding F-22 did not make sense to me. It still does'nt. It is their most sophisticated piece of military technology and they are not selling it to even their closest allies (nothing wrong with that IMO). So how does that situation relate to the present debate...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

As for best equipment for the job, i guess if IAF decided its interested F-22 (no denying the best of the lot), would it be on the table? <snip - edited>. Gaur GeorgeWelch said - Nothing per se, except if your military decides it's the best equipment for the job , it would be silly to deny your arm...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

It would depend on if they were sourced from the US. Russia was blackmailed(when its economy was in doldrums) into not collaborating with India on the cryogenic engines for ISRO's by US even when there was nothing in it sourced from USA. Its all subjective, as and when what suits america's interest...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

US of A is not going to get bankrupt if they are not able to sell the few planes so what the big deal in not buying from US. Nothing per se, except if your military decides it's the best equipment for the job, it would be silly to deny your armed forces the best tools simply because of some paranoi...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

it's a good illustration that the US does NOT control the foreign policy of countries that buy its weapons. If the US has an embargo of Cuba, how in the world is Canada conducting trade with Cuba in direct opposition to that embargo ? Things that make you go 'Hmmmmm.' Sorry to jump in, but business...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

You lose your sovereign foreign policy, you gain shiny knick knacks which are never going to be used. What does the US gain, a toehold in your decision making abilities. India is a big boy that isn't going to allow itself to be bullied over a few planes. You aren't some banana republic. Your lack o...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

armaments are indeed tools and when it comes to defending the nation, there is only one core strategy "give them hell". what will do you talk about, how does the case of will come in when some one attacks our nation, we just blindly defend it. Giving them hell does not go with blindly def...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

Our BMD is not just a tool but a game changer and will protect over a billion people from lots of threats especially from Paki ballistic and cruise missiles. To call it that just a tool and not brains well would be very disrespectful on the good work our people are doing. So all the weapons i list ...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

I never said that US is a saint but i am not blindly optimist either. With systems like Spyders, PAD and AAD, Akash, Mki, mig-29s, ample mig-21 bisons etc that small fleet of Paki Falcon and their little nukes wont even make it pass 5 km into our territory. Our layered BMD-1 will take care of all k...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

Kudos, all the problems we have in the world today are because of the work of the old folk and their choices over decades while the youth today suffer. I guess your old man could have saved us all one little problem, by being a bit more pragmatic when he thought of begetting you. Mods snip off my c...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

.............. C-17 is cool buy and i for one dont think by buying them we're suddenly digging our own grave. Cool buy? Nice metric for deciding weapon packages I am sure. Sanku sahab, at least you had the patience to reply.. i guess, maturity comes with age.. a definite plus point :D As for the C-...

Re: C-17s for the IAF?

............. there after all the concessions they were able to wring out of the US Why do you folks think US of A is gods gift to mother earth, look at the other way without the Americans mother earth was blissfully tugging along for millions of years. So whats the point? Stick to the place which ...

Re: LCA news and discussion

Coins are a reliable proof, but don’t contain any mention of his actions that differentiate a mighty ruler from a mediocre one (unlike Ashokan edicts). . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikrama_Samvat A calendar system would obviously not be based on a mythological or a mediocre king, and yes the URL ...

I sure am here to learn and then share knowledge. http://www.britishempire.co.uk/article/castesystem.htm Quoted from the article The word caste is not a word that is indigenous to India. It originates in the Portuguese word casta which means race, breed, race or lineage. However, during the 19th cen...

Did not Sita asked Lord Ram to hunt the deer? Meat must be rajasvic food. Instead, Rama ran after the deer to catch it live and only on exhaustion, decided to shoot at it. Rama ran after the deer to catch it, but when he realized that it was not a deer after all but a demon(mariche) in disguise he ...
