I am tempted to take it with a pinch of salt. I don't know how they calculated the probability of win and this is for the first time I have seen aircraft being compared in terms of fuel economy (like they are scooters)

Talking of Nirbhay, does anyone have a clue about its test firing? The DRDO had announced in 2007 that it will be test fired in 2009, if that schedule is to be believed, they are lagging by almost two years.

You misunderstood my post. My point is simple - MoD as well as IAF top brass is living under mohmaaya of foreign technology and products. Even Ex-IAF chief has admitted on this. Why we fight then? A simple fact is, our armed forces were not technically advanced during 1947 and we have regularly tak...

I fail to see how increased engine power will improve g limits/AoA/sustained turned rate, that are aerodynamic design features. Well, sustained turn rate is heavily T:W ratio dependent. Yes, I get that. What my point is that he could have given a solid argument as to why 85kN is insufficient - what is it that a 100kN engine can accomplish which 85kN can't.

If the weight is 7,000 kg then Thrust to weight ratio for 404 will be @85kN = 85000/(7000x9.807) = 1.15, correct?
What is the hue and cry about under-powered engine? F-22 has 1.14 ratio, F-16 is 1.15.
