Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

I am not so sure. There is a lot of bitterness still lingering regarding the cancellation of the Lavi (similar to how we feel about the HF-24). Please read this: http://www.haaretz.com/f-35-take-it-or-leave-it-1.304297 I would agree that there is a lot of regret over the cancellation of the Lavi. I...

Re: AMCA News and Discussions

Although not quite related to AMCA, Japan unveiled a downscaled prototype of its 5th gen aircraft. As impressive as rolling out a technology demonstrator for flight test might be, the bigger news is what's going on behind the scenes. In parallel with the prototype test program, the Japanese are fun...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

Israel has a far smaller landmass and airspace to deal with as almost all of its principal antagonists are within easy reach. The Israelis were staging air strikes on targets as far away as Tunisia back in the 1980s, and are today gearing up for a possible confrontation with Iran. They understand t...

IAI forced out of Indian fighter jet bid By YAAKOV KATZ Jul 5, 2009 5:50 | Updated Jul 5, 2009 11:17 Disappointing, but perhaps not unexpected. The US government has historically pressured its allies to help ensure a US win (although usually they placed pressure on the nation buying the weapons sys...

Re: China Military Watch

Either the pilot is being conservative or this plane is not agile. It's very difficult to judge fighter performance from an air show demo. Most of the maneuvers being shown off have little to do with air combat, and without visual references, it's impossible to judge such key parameters as airspeed...

Re: China Military Watch

Just a reminder to everyone to keep an eye on their calendars for the upcoming Zhuhai Air Show, which will be running the 4-9 November. This will mark the first air show appearance for China's J-10 fighter - which China will be marketing to prospective buyers as the F-10. Hopefully some additional d...

Air Forces Monthly Article on TVC Technology

In case anyone missed it, the March issue of the British publication Air Forces Monthly carried an extensive article weighing the pro's and con's of thrust vector control, and exploring why so few Western nations have invested resources into the technology. . . . the Lavi engine, the PW1120, produces 91.5KN of thrust. . . . we know that the J-10 engine produces around 76KN thrust. Guys, Here's the one that everybody seems to have been asking for: CHINESE AIRPOWER IN TIBET: PART-4 ( J-10 PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS ) . . .
