Re: Indian Navy News & Discussion - 12 April 2021

India seems to be using the Anti-Piracy missions in Somalia to fine-tune their operational procedures and doctrines in a near-real scenario. Frankly, my take is that both INS Kolkata and INS Subhadra would have MARCOS assets on board. However, the MS Ruen gave us the perfect foil to launch a C-17 fr...

Given the lack of initiative in the appointment of the CDS it's adequately clear that the Government is sceptical of Jointness being created via the CDS Structure. Perhaps we need a more Indian way of achieving it.

@Brar_w any aircraft design is a compromise. While a Top-hat has its inherent benefits it also imposes penalties. The biggest enemy of CCP is the CCP. Xi may seem to be all powerful but the Politburo is a delicately balanced construct with a majority of Xi detractors. MWF is an insurance policy project so is OCRA (assuming its derived from the TEDBF). Funding will continue on MWF because its low risk and can quickly gather speed if AMCA fumbles. If AMCA remains of track then IAF may take a call based on the funding available to them.

Just my 2 cents worth.

A Carl Gustav is a much better option with a very low footprint. CG will not have the necessary range. This GO GO Gun can actually be a go to weapon for all infantry units and replace the Heavy Mortar Troop. 8 Guns per infantry battalion will increase the firepower of our infantry teams tremendously.
