Re: Airborne Early Warning & Control: News & Discussion
With the 6 A321s to France, is the MRTT dead? It seems unlikely the smaller aircraft can multi-role as a tanker. Also I recall the IAF entertaining a French proposal for 6 A330s for MRTT but with emphasis on tanker. Would we still go for those as tankers? Though it seems very expensive now in light...

I know the barak 8 has demonstrated cooperative engagement similar to what the USN has shown, but I wasnt aware we had already developed this in airborne scenarios. This is the fundamental point, and there literally has been no technical counter to such a simple and straightforward point. Net, don'...

It is not publicly available, however Turks recently fired off a Aim120 using the Wedgetail at an Syrian fighter from their own airspace. So we can be pretty sure IAF would have asked for similar capability, specially with S band and 2 way datalinks on Astra. Was this executed using link 16? So the...

AESA are multi beam, so if one beam is tracking a target, the remaining panel will do volume search.. I get that but you have finite power generation which is constrained in airborne platforms (awacs aside). There would be performance degradation. Anyhow I tried to search but cannot find any public...

You would want to detect the BVR as early as possible. BVR seeker gets switched on at around 25KM or less. You have very less time if your relay on RWR to tell you about the BVR. What if the BVR has IR, like Mica-IR? We will soon be having Astra-IR with 2 way datalink 8) Regarding the FCR, yes the ...

All that only tells you that you are been tracked and a BVR "may be" on it's way. What if the platform firing the BVR is not the one tracking you? A AWACS can datalink your position to a fighter which your RWR cannot see.. MAWS cannot detect a BVR at 100KM.. if it could, we wouldn't be us...

PAF fired off C5's at long range 50-60KM, giving time for our boys to evade. But more importantly, our boys knew there is a BVR coming at them. That is the most important capability. The only tool I can think of, which can do that is the Bars radar. Nam ji are you saying that its the platform's rad...

High energy lasers against higher performing cruise missiles require quite high power levels and a very narrow beam. This gets even more important when you are defending yourself (laser is on the vessel) as opposed to defeating a missile headed somewhere else (where you have a different orientation...

The power of this thing is beyond comprehension TBH but it is nowhere near 13K tons. How do they pack in 128 VLS for SAM/ASW/Land Attack plus 16 AShMs? The P15B has 32 Barak 8 VLS onlee plus the 16 Brahmos. Simple. Brahmos launchers are about twice the size of mk 41 vls, let's assume in space used ...

Terrible news....rescue crews have located the body of Commander Nishant Singh.
I guess in some ways this was almost inevitable given 11 days had passed. Was still hoping somehow for him to be alive. May he attain moksha for he has given the ultimate sacrifice.
