Re: Indian Missile Technology Discussion
I have a question for the learned saar's here For e.g. lets take an AAM with a publicised range of 100 kms. Now does mean that the missile can go from a static point A to a Point B 100 kms away or does that 100 Km range depends on the 'n' speed of the moving launch vehicle. Also does variables like...

Re: LCA news and discussion
we are going a bit OT here....... please re-locate. :) I agree, we've gone off topic. BTW, I was not trying to imply that the USN invented carrier aviation or that the Brits did'nt. I was only trying to respond to Neelas question about where the arrestor gear should be located. With that we return ...

Re: LCA news and discussion
I guess another factor that should be factored in is the position of the arrestor mechanism on the deck? This I think will be mainly for a missed landing. I assume that the cables will be placed at a distance X of total length L, and L-X is calculated for the a/c type in use to take off. ? A carrie...

B...

Re: Indian Military Aviation
err. not me. :D But the IAF probably did at some point. there was a demonstration in some firepower display an year or so back when IAF An-32s apparently displayed their bomb dropping for the first time. but never saw any pictures of that I suppose the legacy of using transports as modified bombers...

Re: International Aerospace Discussion
google to the rescue. the twin engine pods look similar to the ones on the B-52. http://www.aviationkb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/uk-aviation/1766/Top-Gear-747-with-twin-podded-engines Thanks that seems to have answered the question. And now that I think about it, I did happen to see the aircraft in an ear...

Re: International Aerospace Discussion
While watching a Top Gear clip on YouTube, I happened to glimpse this http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/9526/topgear747.th.png wierd looking 747 in the background. If I am to believe my eyes, that 747 has got its engines in two twin pods (as against the usual 4 single pods) and an underwing pod tha...
