Re: MRCA News and Discussion
Philip, the article you mentioned also favours a US MRCA in many ways. That the planes should win on merit alone. They seem to be rooting for the Super Hornet. The Magazine also has an article wrt to the Apache and Chinook, written by a Boeing guy . I think it will be an American MRCA at the e...

 When the IN floated out the RFI I always knew it was to test the F 35 waters. LM are being very wise offering the F 35, contrary to people here think I think it will be the C-Conventional Take Off variant than the STOVL B that will interest the IN because its most likely for IAC 2 which will h...

What you said is true. But it also applies to other aircraft in the competition namely the MIG 35 and Gripen NG. 1. The MIG is not going to be procured by Russia in significant numbers and they always have prioritized upgradation of their Su 27/25 MiG 31 models than the normal flanker. It is likely ...

UAE funded it because they wanted something that did not exist at the time. They weren't offered it but rather chose to develop it with their own cash. Now we are being offered a derivative of the same. UAE will not bother upgrading their Block 60s when the time comes they will replace them with F 3...

How many SU 30 MKIs did Russia buy? But aren't they getting upgraded? Why isn't Russia funding "squat" for its upgrade (as suggested by you). A lot of Su 30 MKI tech was already developed by Russia for the Su 35 (the older one). But we are funding the upgrades now, like the block 3 and th...

Didn't we hear that cancellation of airbus order for air refuelers by fin min. They would just go by the cheapest in the list. Re: MRCA News and Discussion
The TVC is not really that important in this age of HMCS/HOBS missiles. The MIG is however evolving as a realistic choice alongside the Gripen as the Americans are trying to play hardball with respect to tech transfer and dumbed down AESA. The two twin-engined Euro Canards are IMHO too expensive for...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion
Chances are that if we choose the MIG 35 we will have to fund for the development of its upgrades in future. I do not know how it is different from an F 16 or an F 18 which many say will not have US support. If India chooses the Gripen NG and Brazil doesn't the chance of us being the only user of th...

US NAVY Mandate? They have operated Single engined fighters/Attack aircrafts before and F 35 C is going to be their future AC. Prior to F-35, their policy leans towards a twin engine design only. Instead of comparing two paper planes (the LCA MK2 and the Gripen NG). Let us compare the Gripen C/D with the Tejas MK1 and you will realise the Swedish bird exceeds the LCA in all aspects. The reason why Gripen has had a few crashes is because they have tested at a faster pace than the guys at ADA/...

The Sukhois are worrying me a bit offlate. Two crashes in one year is not that good for a twin engined fighter. I hope they ground the fleet and do a proper investigation, this should not have occured after the first crash.

The weight of the AESA mentioned in that slide may not include the additional weight that has to go in for the cooling, a bigger array will need more cooling.

For the MRCA - 60% per the RFP. RFP does rule. Having said that, ALL non-US vendors have promised everything - hardware and software.
