Re: The next war in the Persian Gulf

I hope this one turns out to be something! The way things fizzled out at NoKo and Doklam after providing such exciting rhetoric of fireworks were kind of letdowns. True that, we have had to endure one KLPD after another. The current low tempo conflict means the A-Rabs and US can profit from higher ...

We have over 400 platforms that can launch R-77, so this order is not really huge (around 1 missile per fighter).

C-295 weighs 11t empty, i.e. around 1/2 that of an MKI and around 50% more than Tejas - by no means a "heavy" airframe. This class should have ideally been targeted for designed & made in India rather than screwdriver-giri.

Our weapons purchases from US are really nothing compared to what they are signing with the A-Rabs, and all our deals painfully long draws out with ToT and offset requirements. In fact even we are giving the Russians billions with ToT/offset obligations. I think the govt is mistaken if it thinks it ...

I know it one of your pet projects (my own being A400/An-72/C-2 faceoff), but it's quite an inopportune time given one more IAF An-32 crashed recently. Definitely questions woul be raised on the "reliability" aspect. BTW why did the Saudis back out from this program?

How hard would it be to integrate Barak-8 missile on MKI? It has a dual pulse motor, weights 275kg - much more than most medium AAMs but probably not enough to limit G loads (I'm guessing), would be a much bigger step up from iDerby/Astra. Range should be at least ~200km. I'm imagining a *andu buste...
