the boeing vstol entry lost not because it was ugly but because it couldn't do some of the things as well as the LM vstol. this was documented in a vid that is available somewhere on you tube.

18000 lb internal fuel storage is just huge......I used to top off A-4Ms with 10000 lbs and that was with internal and two drop tanks! i don't think the forum posters realize what that means. seriously.

I don't know if we are talking about the same thing or not but the US has 20 roll/roll off ships to transport army logistics. the ships are about 1000 foot long and 100 feet wide with multiple decks.

called US military sea lift command. its mostly civilian run and operated.

coal industry employment has been crashing for years.

not much underground mining is going on. its too labor intensive.

its gone mostly to strip mining where entire mountains are leveled by a crew of less than 10.

in the future we will need coal and oil to make stuff, not to burn it for energy.
