This test was rigged, the tank was loaded with explosives. You can double check on the tanknet forum.

Re: Indo-French exercises: Mixed results

A telling comment by an IAF pilot was made in the Times of India:
"We are inducting active BVRs in our force only now ... "

I guess it means the R-77s have only recently been inducted, the previous BVR weapons were of SHAR not active homing.

Shiv - Great pictures! Can't wait to see more.

You need to adjust the image quality setting on your digital camera. Set it to "fine" or the highest setting.

Re: IA/IAF: Op Parakram and Kargil-II

Small deviation... Based on the VK Sood article, it seems that the IA should go in for a 4th srike corps. This would allow a thrust into the Thar using overwhelming force by 1, 2, and 21 - and tie up the TSP 1 & 2 strike corps. The 4th strike corps would be free to go after military objectives i...

The Mirage sounds right actually. Wasn't sure if the F-4 was wired for the Exocet.

Re: The Indian Air Force's Iraqi connections

Should be an interesting, if not short discussion. ;) There isn't anything really provocative here at all, if we remember that prior to the Gulf War, Iraq was assisted by quite a few countries. They had money to burn and most countries took advantage of that. Including the US... during the Iran/Iraq...

Re: Arjun – To be or not to be (?)

If the FCS and armour is what its claimed to be then the solution is simple: -Upgrade the engine to the 1500 hp Watsila one -Upgrade the logistics to support the Arjun (i.e. rail cars, transports, etc) -Continue with the Karan (Tank Ex?) type upgrade for some of the T-72s They should consider the Le...

Re: Arjun – To be or not to be (?)

Bottom line questions:

1) Has the Arjun been approved by the Army?
2) How many will be produced?
3) What is the timetable for induction?

Does anyone have pics of the inside of the Arjun?

Re: Indian Aerospace Industry Developments

I was surprised when I read that amount as well. Seems kind of steep, however the article also mentioned that was about 30% cheaper than European alternatives. With the reported amount for the Hawk at $20 mil, it could be the correct figure(I think its a typo though). The Hawk however is an AJT wher...

Re: Brahmos Missile - News and Discussion

Saw the video, the interesting thing is that this is a "hot" VLS launch, compared to the exisiting cold launch for the existing Russian VLS systems (used on the Kirov class battlecruisers).
This means this VLS system is not designed for underwater submarine relase, which use a co...
