Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread
I came across this picture in a magazine that in the 80's the Ukraine had looked at the possibility of using a bustle mounted loader in order to accomodate a 120mm Leclerc type gun and one piece ammo. They had even exhibited the concept in many Middle East countries as well. Isnt moving to this type...

singha ji, the number would be closer to 2000 now I think. rohit can answer better. if there's a situation/sector where PLA can deploy tanks and we can't, only then something like the NAMICA as a stand-alone option is a possibility. but newer tactics would be needed to exploit its shoot and scoot p...

A400 which is smaller than C-17s seems to be going towards US$ 300-400 million a pop. Il-76 using the estimate of recent cancelled tanker bid seems to be in the range of US$ 170 a pop. So s C-17 which is way bigger than both of them seems ok at US$ 220million a pop. Russians can be sweetened with a...

realistically, capital ships like carriers will not operate alone - a group of DDG and FFG plus atleast one SSN can be expected even for Russia. so instead of wasting volume on 196 SAMs and 24 huge Granit missiles, the Kuz could have used them for additional hanger space for ASW helis/Su33, extra f...

My casual snooping around provides reason to believe that the PAK-FA to fly in 2009 will be a Su-3X in a PAK-FA skin. This PAK-FA will have a simple engine, a simple radar and very simple avionics. A very, very basic technology demonstrator. For it is worth, the F-22 took 10 years during which they...
