vsunder, arshyam sirs--thank you very much for your response. As always, your insights and nuggets are very illuminating Seems to me that within the next 5 or so years, we will have sufficient North-South linkages; starting with the west coast and going east, we'll have Konkan Railway (patch doubled...

I would much rather a prefer a gun that can double as a point defense the FAC will very likely have a couple of MANPAD launchers on board. These have longer range and have the flexibility to be deployed both in the prow and the bow, rather than a fixed mount gun system. The 30 mm Medak gun + 2-3 MA...

There is something specific about the S-X00 ADS that makes the US cr@p its pants. Per Pramit Chaudhuri on twitter, India will have to upload IFF signature of all its airplanes on to the S 400 system library so that Indian planes are recognized and not shot down. Apparently, the apprehension is a fu...

I wonder if we still have T 55s in reserve. we used to have hundreds of them till about 10 years back in active formations. The T 55 could use uprated engine packs from the T 72s while being a good 7-8 tonnes lighter. The uprated engines will also account for the lowered engine performance at high a...

Zynda - more than 'lousy contracting' it could just be a scale and pricing issue. The number of Japanese locos contracted is less than half the Alstom ones contracted.

BTW, the Alston locos for India is not the Prima. Its this one..
