Re: MRCA News and Discussion

Surely you didn't find anything interesting in what I wrote in the post because you are not interested in it! Not me personally....but your disrespect for the highest level of academic achievement is a testament of your level of ignorance! For people who see PhDs everywhere, I would like you to show...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

So, kartik you are too old to be wrong! My grandmother thinks the same too, only she is not literate! For every $10,000, you can educate a couple, make them employable and buy them a small house in a small town! And know what, they will starting paying taxes after that which will be used for the dev...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

The good General has put his finger firmly on the spot. The MMRCA choice should be part of the masterplan for the IAF's future force conception, based upon the PAK-FA 5th-gen fighter as its supremo. The "low" end of the IAF's force should be based around the LCA and any future developmnts of...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

Well mate you are not just missing something, you are missing the entire point. LCA Tejas is not just meant to be a replacement of Migs. The idea behind Tejas was to build design capability to build a world class 4th generation fighter aircraft in-house. Besides this Tejas will replace: Mig 21: In ...

That is so true! But the thing about F-35 is true. If India makes this MRCA deal with a US company, then we get to buy the F-35 next! You should be able to get that from some news source!

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

NitinM-> I think the LCA role will mainly be what the Mig-21 has been doing in the IAF. It definately has a role to play. Numbers do matter, it can provide CAP, air defence and limited strike. 4tonne payload- although in combat it will carry less may not not be much for A to G missions but will do ...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

Why not the Gripen then? Isn't the NG going to have the AESA unlike Tejas? Why would you want to import the Gripen when the indigenously designed and produced LCA satisfies the IAF's requirements? Had the IAF asked for an AESA originally for the LCA? No. Anyway, the LCA MkII is going to have an AES...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

Is he favouring Mig35 for mrca? Which aircraft would be most suitable for us keeping in mind that we will be operating Pakfa in future and it has to compliment it best . Notice that he never mentioned mig29,mirage,LCA.. I am really beginning to like this MRCA thing! I don't think the author is favo...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

One more thing. The Rafale-M (carrier version) currently operates off the Charles DeGaulle which is a CATOBAR carrier. We don't even know if the rafale can operate off IN's STOBAR carriers. I didn't know this, thanks! No offense, but regarding the other post, it wouldn't hurt if you took a few less...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

rather than upgrading the Mirage for something as crazy as $ 40m /aircraft (which is still pending), only make minor upgrades and replace it sooner. Its not the final price. That was the original price quoted, which DOD were unwilling to pay. The package - new avionics, radars, mission computers, g...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

Another angle to the story! Going back 5 years! I tend to be a big fan of standardization! I have seen in so many industrial cases, it brings down costs dramatically! We should have expedited the MRCA and tried to standardize on a carrier capable aircraft like the Rafale rather than buy the 45 units...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

IMHO MOD needs to expedite domestic prodution. 15/16 planes/year is not going to help. You can't create capacity for producing 50 or 100 aircraft a year when the total order is only 40 aircraft. Its not economically feasible. Let the LCA MkII make its first flight. And then if the IAF orders it in ...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

This is exactly what the Indian Govt wants to do now! But, this requires very large mechanism for monitoring! R&D is very hard to monitor! Small lags in achieving milestones can delay very large projects and cause massive cost overruns! We don't have expertise in managing research projects in In...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

All said.....when a Su-30MKI costs about $40m, why are we buying aircrafts that are less potent for twice the price? Isn't it primarily for AESA radar and some other critical technologies? I think the choice between the single engine/light aircrafts (Gripen, F-16) and the rest will depend on the IAF...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

The Eurofighter Typhoon is my favorite to win the contest, it is the best option. It surely is technologically the best aircraft in the group, second only to the F22 in the world! With Eurofighter offering India to become the 5th partner in the consortium, it will become supplier for one of the most...
