Re: Artillery Discussion Thread

I have always had trouble understanding this whole concept of the Indian defence procurement. Of having 2 seperate lines of products that meet broadly similar requirements. One is atags the other is 45 Cal Dhanush. When atags is in advanced stages of trials. Then why spend money on a product that is...

Let it fly before we say that all issues are solved.

As in a program of this nature, you can still face a brand new problem. Just when you think that you have sorted out all the issues.

1) is there a video of the firing in front of star news.

2) let's accept that it was used, but 5000 rounds being fired by it. That almost looks like the weapon is in full scale service.

I have some trouble with the number of pinaka rounds (5000) fired during kargil war. I have seen image's of BM 21 engaging Pakistani forces. It is purely an Indian fetish that says LCH cannot be used for Anti tank ops in its environment. It has the ability to carry 16 atgms. The only issue is developing the quad mount. Correct. So the Astra SAM conversion is perfectly sensible. If QR SAM didn't exist I would say so but existence of later with some of same components and similar range makes such a SAM redundant. You are correct. I will take the QR SAM that is standing on the shoulders of Akash and Astra any day.

The Indian nuke posture is explicit. That any nuke use against India or its forces anywhere in the world will invite a disproportionate response against the attackers and their allies who ever they may be.

That being the case PRC is fair game. In case of TSP attack against India.

Or is it too logical.

Triple pulse implies 3 separate stages of thrust. 1st the solid booster. And 2 from SFDR.
