The way Rupee is declining...I am sure cost are going to go manifold...We might rather go for LCA mk2, if not gripen...if this situation of financial slide continues I think its better to be pragmatic... We need indigenous solutions to keep things arrested and not feel overindulgent... reference htt...

if Gripen are smart they could take a chunk of the market segment being targeted by the JF17 (ie basket cases) by offering a simple gripen-C model without the frills and offering to integrate choice of customer radar and weapons. should be anyway a far better a/c than the JF17 and they can tailor t...

To begin with how rigorous was the Swiss Eval. They neither have deserts, extremly humid areas or very high alt air fields. Apart from the evaluated contenders they have little parallel with our evaluation. Swiss eval has no bearing on how IAF eval'd them. IAF's eval is by far the most thorough eva...

It definitely depends on exploits of the systems and pilot...In one instance some chinese birather claimed proudly on BRF IIRC that JF17 beat sukhoi 30 mkk in exercises hands down...well we all know what it can mean, specially when two fighters are far apart in potential. All agreed. But, we still have 10 billion $. No matter how efficient the abcd's (as mentioned by you), we still cannot afford $ 40 bil +. A life cycle cost of efficient 10 billion worth of a/c is good in same ratio as 40 bil worth. I am not arguing that we should not buy them as I have always argue...
