Re: Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft: News & Discussion - 30 August 2019

I have a totally different take on it, FGFA has been thrown out because IAF/GoI have finally grown a pair each to refuse friendly invitation from Russia to be it’s bitch or a guinea pig again. FGFA wasn’t the deal we needed or wanted. Saar, was this required in this thread? Or even the context of t...

Re: Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft: News & Discussion - 30 August 2019

if AMCA acheives supercruise with 414 ins6 in a clean configuration with just a2a weapons in IWB and fuel enough for a decent range then we should be close to the optimal design point. Else we might end up in a spiralling saga wherein the point of diminishing returns might arrive too quickly with no...

Re: Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft: News & Discussion - 30 August 2019

Just a thought. If supercruise was a critical ASQR wouldn't it be better to have the design process around a realistically available engine and later evolve in other parameters as in MK1, MWF or the hornets? Did you read the news link posted previously by Vips, or my two posts pointing it out to fa...

My point was assuming the design incorporates minimal drag and stealth wouldn't it be better to forgo mtow or range considerations to the extent that a later variant with higher thrust can solve these.

Re: Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft: News & Discussion - 30 August 2019

F-35A does not have a supercruise requirement and the key metric is thrust minus drag (dry thrust). KFX with those F-414's will be limited in its speed. I think once it matures, you will see that reflected in its performance envelope. That's a very valid statement. That F35A's performance numbers a...

Su30 would then provide positional data to Mig21 and they would surprise the USAF fighters. Mki can provide positional data because it has an fcr. Awacs can't do this afaik. Where does the opex vrs capex argument dissapear when a case for 500 mk1 is made. Isn't a progressive development 200 mwf plus exports suffice to move over AMCA. What's the point in having a production line for MWF while AMCA enters production?

Whole reason why IAF would like to have more rafales is because they are convinced of its abilities to pull its weight during a battle. Let's leave this judgment to them. The current ACM has indicated his intentions on supporting LCA MWF, so be it. As for the numbers it's not us jingos fighting it o...

When the Wing Commander comes back, we will know the full story. This was a first kill during balakot attack's. Rest what you see happened later.
