Re: C-17s for the IAF?
Aditya_V There are two points 1) Can C 17 do what it advertises -- thankfully at least thats happening now. 2) Can another airlift do pretty much the same at much lower costs and better integration? no, no other aircraft in thge c-17 class, no other aircraft can carry 78 tons. There is no question ...

Can any one throw light on the estimated cost of Nirbhay in comparision with Brahmos, Babur and other Chinese Cruise missiles? Brahmos is around $ 2million +, i think Birbhay will be cheaper between $500k to $1 million and i think will be more accurate than babur and chinese stuff. I also think the...

Day/night strikes with precision-guided weapons - All planes do it. In fact our Mirage/Jaguar can also do the same using LGB units  Anti-air warfare - Again any multi-role jet is able to do that. IMO, our Mig 21 Bison with the R 77 can do that pretty nicely Fighter escort - Hang an escort Jamm...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion
Read lines two and three of my post. Ofcourse the US has interests in India. It also has interests in our neighbors (Pakistan). Hence, restrictions may arise in the event of a conflict. Again, exercising a bit of caution doesn't hurt when dealing with the US. It also doesn't mean that those who buy...

the whole process of c-17 interest began in feb 2007 aero india when Boeing first showcased it, RFI sent in 2008, trials in 2009 and purchase should be done by end of this year or next year so 4 years in the making. by the way 4 years is a lot of time.

Re: MRCA News and Discussion
Caution shouldn't be equated with cowardice. Nobody here thinks the US will wage war on India. Conflict with our neighbors may jeopardize US interests. Therefore, restrictions on supply and use of tech may be exercised. Quit being a buffoon and grow up! you mean to say US has no interests in India?...

like the new SH upgrade, love the churning out of new tech every few years. The mig-35 is a default option and i think if no one else is willing to play ball the mig will win but griepn NG and SH have a very good chance, the EF and rafale are painfully expensive to operate. SH with new engines, Mete...

why not have gps recievers capable of getting signals from GLONASS and IRNS on US aircraft and weapons, then they wont be able to disable it right? when we can have our own operational datalink on SV, why not have our own gps recivers that rely on regional as well as Russki sattelites.

One cant assume that C-17 isnt China or PAk specific and frankly the operator IAF hasnt made it clear so they'll use it whenever they want to and need it.
