Re: China Military Watch - Sept' 2016
The unmanned tanks have really interesting issues. The remote operation of these tanks would involve significant radio chatter. Which implies: a. No radio silence while the tanks move into position for attack. Thus loosing tactical surprise. b. Easy triangulation of the operator location, which I pr...

Re: Long Distance Chinese Navy Deployment - Analysis
The island bases that China has built in the South China Sea should be seen as outposts. Just like any outpost they are not very far away from the actual force concentration. The same cannot be said for a base that China makes in the Maldives. It would require far more assets and infrastructure. Wit...

Few more questions. A. How feasible it is in 3-D space to know where the other fellow is to enable directional communication? B. Does stealth imply that, your aircrafts have to mostly rely on others to do the searching for you, rather than itself. Otherwise,if it is forced to use its Radar continuou...

A question. Let us say a bunch of Low Observable Fighters are coming in to attack a base. One of them, moves to some distance away from the others, maybe ahead or some other direction. It uses its radar to look out for the defenders and then shares the information with the others. In both the cases ...

With regards to the cost proposition of using a SAM to shoot an incoming rocket, I think the correct metrics is not the cost of the rocket but the value of the SAM vs the value of the target it is protecting, everything else is of much lesser importance. These USV can be used as a compliment to the helicopter, especially in the ASW role. The biggest advantage of the USV over a helicopter is endurance/persistence. Which means that we can use them as a platform with dipping sonar deployed 30-50 km away/ahead of the mother ship and do so over longer ho...

Brahmos might be too big and too heavy for Corvette class of vessels. Maybe VLS Club missiles would do the trick. 4-6 nos. of follow-on class to the Kora should be planned. A very important thing to note here. Because the Arjun doesn't have a smoothbore gun. Smoothbore guns are good because they fire shells on a flatter trajectory and are therefore more accurate. DRDO cannot design smoothbore guns. Guys, please note that at no point did I say that a few 100kg bombs would sink the carrier.
The idea is to hit the flight deck and make a few holes on the flight deck. Which means that flight operations are out of question. Hence a mission kill.

According to Tarmak, Nirbhay is "approximately 6 metres long and 550 mm in diameter".
550mm = 21.625 inch. 21 inch = 533.4 mm.
Thus the approximate specs are tantalizingly close to that of a 21 inch TT. Hope it is designed with 21 inch TT in mind.
