Just think, each LCA or any other fighter that we induct needs a pilot and it takes more than 4 years for him to get relieved from the tag of a rooky after taking his first flight. Each fighter also needs trained ground maintenance staff in every field of speciality (engine, airframe, armament etc.)...

Once the full cycle of LCA development is completed (culminating is squadron service and exercising along side the present day / future front-line fighters); design, test, series production cycle will get narrowed down in terms of time for the future combat aircraft models.
