Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
So what is an unauthorized use? I have seen many black Amby's and other cars having the star plate covered with a black rexine based cover. I think the stars are covered up when someone other than the person for whom the stars are intended is using the car. The vehicle is probably reserved for the ...

Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous
Hi,
I have asked this before but got no reply. I have seen officers wearing their shoulder rank insignia in gold with various coloured borders like red, yellow and green. What do those border colours mean?

[quote="abhishekm" On a related note, has anyone noticed how Chidambaram's security has now been upgraded? Up until the middle of last year he walked around New Delhi with only one personal security officer. I've now seen him on TV surrounded by atleast 2 bodyguards with earpieces, et al.[...

SPG protects PM and other VVIPs. But who protects other lower ranking ministers like ministers of state for education? Is that task done by Delhi Police or NSG? Also does President get protection from SPG or President's Bodyguards have that responsibility considering that they are an Army regiment?

Re: Design your own tank
My whole point was that unless we have a complete system of transportation converted to Hydrogen, it is not practical to run tanks on it. This is how I see it. This is a forum where people are allowed to have ideas. But a person who has an idea will have to come up with answers to quetions about ho...

Re: Design your own tank
So back to the basics are we? I dont care how fuel cells work. Unless it uses djinn powers, it needs refuelling and so bam, logistics. I do care how things work and you should too. Without caring how something works and then commenting on it is just childish. People were "destroying" poor...

Re: Design your own tank
No offence but it sounds to me like you are all arguing without knowing how fuel cells work. Fuels cells i.e. batteries of fuel cells are charged using Hydrogen gas. So a vehicle using fuel cells is charged the same way a vehicle using Patrol/Diesel is 'charged'. Simply fill the tank with hydrogen w...

Re: Design your own tank
The GT & the AUX engine will be connected to the generator using a gear box. It won't be connected together i.e. either connected the GT or the AUX. About the power, my apologies, It was a typo. It should be 1800 bhp electric motor and power output at the shaft should be atleast 1500 bhp. (Some...

Re: Design your own tank
Sohamn sir, How are you planning on connecting one 2 stroke and one GT (total 2000) HP to a 1500 HP electric motor? If the GT is 1800 HP wouldn't it be a waste of additional power if the generator-motor set is only 1500 HP? The gas turbine is a high speed low torque engine and piston engines are usu...

Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous
Hi everyone, my first post and a newbie question: In Orbat section here, we have structure of infantry battalion. Each section has 7 assult troops (I am assuming they all carry INSAS) and support group of 3 soldiers. Do they carry insas LMG? If yes then 3 LMGs? Like one per soldier? But then the tot...
