Re: Rafale & MMRCA News and Discussions-9 August, 2014

I have said it before and I say it again, scrap mmrca. put max money in AMCA and build it in large numbers, where by large I mean upward to 500, let it along with mki and fgfa be the vanguards of our country till distant future. PS - unfortunately it appears that it is almost certain that Modi will ...

Re: Rafale & MMRCA News and Discussions-9 August, 2014

I dream of a future 50 sqdn IAF. comprising of 200 FGFA + 800 AMCA.

With large number of AMCA enhanced for strike role and and few dozen in growler like configuration.

First they will be added to reach number of sqdns, than as life cycle of exisitng planes end to replace mig29, m2000, mki and lca.

Re: Rafale & MMRCA News and Discussions-9 August, 2014

scrap rafale, invest a part of saved billion $$ for speedy upgrade of strike capabilities (weapons+sensor+avionics) of tejas. Same would be resuable in AMCA.. at the end India will have two home made aircrafts well versed for strike role. mirage are getting upgraded, fgfa will be coming in some time...

Yes, otherwise the chances of a long column of supply trucks getting destroyed by an enemy air attack is equally open. There are things called SAMs. Both air transport and road transport have their vulnerabilities. Do you realize what you said doesn't make any sense? For example - In 71' war Pakist...

My point was about the throughput, and between air and road/rail it is a no contest. IA has 60,000 stallions and 7000 tatras each has the load carrying capacity of a Mi-17 and Chinook respectively. This is what it takes for the the army to move. Compare this to the couple hundred Mi-17 and dozen Ch...

Having said that, it makes no sense to mass produce M777 when we have better products in the pipeline (like the OFB 45cal or the Kalayani gun). M777 in limited numbers is fine for mountain corps but for road accessible areas conventional guns with shoot and scoot capabilities and better firing rang...
