Re: India selects Typhoon and Rafale for MMRCA shortlist
Whoever says, by knocking the F-16 / 18 out is a setback to "strategice relations" needs to define that term! Utter rubbish and balderdash. Obviously the word "strategic" means different to us and the US of A. What is strategic for them may not be strategic for us. I am glad we a...

We now have our eggs in different baskets and the Russians are earthy enough to realise that.
I appreciate them for that. In any case we are contributing to their future aircraft.

Wow, you guys are in super-cruise mode the way this thread is moving. At times serious, at times humorous and at times I notice anger! But, nonetheless illuminating. I at least am glad that the process of selection or de-selection seems to have been carried out in a very professional manner. One can...

Unless some other derailing takes place it will have to be the cheaper of the two!^^ Only problem i forsee with the Europeans making it is that MoF will as usual put a spanner and start pointing at the costs and need for re-bid/re-quote etc since the Frenchies wont come cheap...

There seems to be a lot of LCA activity in Bangalore this week, starting Monday. I have sighted the LCA at least two times a day if not more. So maybe the LSP7 & 8 are undergoing flight testing before release to the IAF.
Cheers.

In the meanwhile, the LCA flies day and night,
Increasing daily our enemies fright,
With a roar of thunder and a radiant release of wares,
A suandron will soon form so enemies beware!
Poor attempt at poetry.

There is another funny incident, this time about the Paki & Irani navies. After our Western Command had shagged Karachi, in 1971, the Shah of Iran sent a couple of his destroyers to Karachi as a show of solidarity. And much to their utter surprise, the Pakis fired on both of them, damaging them!...

Do you know how the first Pakistani F 16 crashed?
I read it in Aviation Week, years back (early 80's). The wingman fired his Sidewinder only to watch in utter horror as it killed his leader!
Tried finding it on the net, but couldn't.
