Re: LIBYA : No fly zone/air war thread

I am surprised at that F-16 and F-18 were not called into the fray. Also IAF ppl should have been called in to test the diff aircraft in combat.
great testing ground for MMRCA.

Re: AeroIndia 2011

[Indranil]However, I think what will touch first is not the tail tip but the underbelly where the bay door is hinged.[/Indranil]

That is what I wanted to convey Indranil. Thanks for putting it so succinctly for me.

Yes the stretched version has a higher risk of "underbelly" touch

Re: AeroIndia 2011

Indranil,

I am not sure of the exact AoA at which the tail touch is an issue. I shal find out. What I do understand is that streatched versions have a greater issue (as the stretch is behind the MLG).

Re: AeroIndia 2011

I did hear that the Hercs have a increased risk of Tail touch while landing. Hence have a tougher time landing with high AoA

Re: AeroIndia 2011

Hehh... I knew who was not winning the MMRCA race when I saw the following.
The display was for IFF (identification friend or foe)... The models were an LCA identifying a friend and a foe. The Friend our own LCA, the foe.. a broken nose squint eyed F-16 :D

Here is me wishing someday we would see the J-10 and the J-20 at AeroIndia 2013. Not pass seeking Chinese journlists

Re: LCA News and Discussions

I do feel that we would see a MK3 LCA with stealth features from the AMCA (way down the line). I also feel that LCA would be a good platform to experiment AMCA stealth aerodynamics also.

Re: LCA News and Discussions

what I understood from the LCA stall guys was, there were a few steps to be done after the IOC which IAF wanted. These are based on weapons testing (missile firing) with RADAR guidance. This I understood would be covered hy June this year. There were a lot more things to be covered for the FoC.

<quote>VINAYAK SHETTI FOR IDRW.ORG MCA 1.0 – Concept and initial idea for development of Twin engine based Medium combat aircraft can be traced back to late 90’s. Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010

With the introduction of the LCA Mk2.... It seems increasingly pointless to go in for a huge MMRCA order. LCA Mk1 and Mk2(with the resizing et al) are increasingly crossing over that border of "light" into "medium" and finally by the time the deal fructifies and the details are w...

Re: LCA News and Discussions

In addition to the above. Is it a possibility that due to inefficient intake design, the engine is not able to produce all the thrust it is supposed to produce. I am sure the thrust produced would definitely be stated with the clause that 90 KN under ideal test conditions .... On chinese reverse eng...

Re: LCA News and Discussions

"They need a cheap bird to be the backbone of the fleet, the LCA seems ideal." LCA was the requirement of the hour when IAF was cash strapped. Now the funds available to it are much more and I think they dont "care" (relatively) that they have to manage 250-300 heavy ones. Now t...

Re: LCA News and Discussions

Marking my first post with a newbie question. Do the flights related to demo of the aircraft count as test flights or are test flights reserved to refer to flights where "testing of specific points" are concerned ?? It was heart warming to see 4 LCAs in formation today. Truely a jingo's de...
