Re: Indian Military Aviation- Jan 10 2012
So that is why IAF Chief lied about the cost of Pilatus for the benefit of Nation? This is the half a billion dollar question IAF needs to answer wrt Pilatus procurement. Ramu,I don't think that it is the IAF that is responsible for the lack of LCA trainers. The IAF had expected the LCA's first sqd....

Re: Indian Military Aviation- Jan 10 2012
Tx AG for that insightful chronological explanation of the issue.Going by the "Gnat would've sufficed" yardstick (keep on making Ambys) when the IAF was acquiring 3-4gen fighters,we should've just kept on building Kirans instead of developing an LCA supersonic trainer, which should have gr...

Re: Military Acquisitions, Partnerships & Developments
The problem with diluting requirements for a foreign product is, you can never bring it back to where you wanted for atleast half of its 30-40 years lifetime. Midlife upgrade/overhaul will again cost an arm and a leg. At the same time you can afford to dilute the same for an in-house product. Every ...

Re: LCA News and Discussions
instead of saying no more new aircraft programs, we should say no more new aircraft platform development programs. we could use existing platform to enable tomorrows technologies.. and this is exactly the model followed by LM/Boeing et al. This is already happening and IAF has been quite successful...

Re: LCA News and Discussions
Well, perception is a strange prism. It paints pink or blue to a picture depending on the angle you are looking from. MK-1 reluctantly being accepted by the IAF and with great hopes for MK-2 succeeding If we didn't like MK1 that we had in hand yesterday, we won't like MK1a that we have today. If we ...

Re: Indian Military Aviation- Jan 10 2012
The IAF has already ordered 80 Tejas Mk2 which is actually the configuration that Mk1 was suppose to achieve without Mk2 even flying till date , that is an indication that IAF support Tejas program fully. No Saar. Let me quote from the recent farticle - Tejas grounds AMCA. At present, the IAF has p...

+1 rohitvats If you look at IAF's order book, 20 aircraft in IOC-2 standard (LSP8) and 20 more in FOC (LSP6) standard. ADA has been rolling out almost 1 aircraft a year since 2001 till today. Each aircraft is an increment to the previous and deserve. So I don't see an issue with development of the p...

My 2 paise worth of pisko. I think we are confusing with 2 different things. The moment we differentiate which is which, everything becomes clear. A product and a product roadmap. Rafale is a product but LCA is a product roadmap. Infact each of DRDO's projects are indeed a product roadmap not just a...

For India, fairer trade agreements and an end to patronising soft power are more important than dribbles of aid from Britain
