Re: Indian Naval News & Discussion - 22 April 2015
India should have started building its own conventional subs like a decade ago, sumultaneously with the scorpenes Admiral Bhagwat wanted an indigenous design but George Fernandes literally forced the scorpene down the IN's throat. I know it was sanctioned during UPA 1. But the story started during ...

I think the German's shared the design of the U-209 designed for India with SA if I remember right.Yagnasri wrote:Did Germany not done the same kind of this deliberately by leaking the same kind of info on the subs sold to us to South Africa? If it is proved that the leak was from the French end then they can kiss bye bye to the P5I( if it ever happens). The whole thing is really sad keeping in mind that the IN is interested in a Barracuda based SSN design. Alternatively, if the GOI and MOD is smart they can use this to arm twist the Fre...

Don't blame the French ,blame our govt's for trying to pull the wool of everyone's eyes. This is an old trick. State the base cost of a product as a cheap price and then add everything at a later date which doubles and triples the price.

If its going to be the 214 then what extra does it bring to the table compared to the Scorpene? How come the Germans have offered the 214 for the P75i in a govt to govt deal? Wasn't the requirement for a larger sub? Unless the IN has decided to do away with its VLS requirement and concentrate on the SSN's as Ocean going subs while the conventional ones will continue with littoral duties.
