Re: Lost City found off the Mahabalipuram coast
I am surprised that many guys here have never been aware of the controversial Graham Hancock whose agenda is to refute everything mainstream science and archeology predicts. One of his favorite themes is to prove the existence of Altantis, which according to Plato existed 9000 years before his time ...

Re: The Road to World Power
I think, at least in sports, what Calvin said is right. Sports "infrastucture" and all are easy words, but the people must have an inclination to sports in the first place.
Very poor countries like Cameroon and Nigeria, with perhaps even no "Ministry of Sports" are better off ...

Re: The Road to World Power
I think sports is a special case. I think the reason why Indians are very backward in sports are because we are a sedentary people. Even playing badminton is a rare hobby, let alone football. When I worked in Sinpaore for some time, my Chinese colleagues used to go scuba diving and mountain climbing...

Re: The Road to World Power
As far as Chinas military development is concerned, its growth is subjected to many hurdles and cannot be a runaway power easily. Re: Production of Arjun tank to start soon
He said production of the Arjun MBT had been ordered and serial roll out was on the lines.
If this is a good tank, this is good news.
If this is a mediocre tank, then it is bad news to mass-produce it and force it on the army.
Same goes for LCA. LCA was seen in tame level flight, no maneuvre...

Re: The State of Indian Science
Many top level managers at scientific institutes have poor moral ethics, are replete with jealously and often thwart the output of other brilliant scientists by petty means
I know quite a few 'scientists' in NAL, CSIR (this because I worked there as trainee quite a while ago) who have taken big ...

Re: The State of Indian Science
The monopoly of mega-science such as space, atomic and nuclear research has relegated the more relevant and pressing problems of India's poor to the background. More than 60 per cent of the total corpus is hogged by the departments of defence, space and atomic energy; only eight per cent goes to...
