The DIA is authorised to conduct cross-border operations which means that they can send operatives to get information from other countries and to run sources in these countries. That does not include cross-border raids, military activities or special operations in foreign countries.

I really don't appreciate the fact of NSG deployment or movement being broadcast to the media. It may suit the politicians to give the impression that they're doing something but these sort of operations are always supposed to be kept secret unless there's a psyops angle involved.

Definitely 72s. No 55s were ever stationed in Ladakh. OTOH 2 x squadrons of 72s were located in the region from 1988 to 1991. Besides a battalion of BMP-2s.

Colonel Bakshi Chand Katoch was commissioned with the first batch of KCIOs from the Cadet College, Indore in Dec 1919 (they got seniority from 17 July 1920). These policemen are all from the Jammu and Kashmir Police. There are subtle differences in uniform and equipment between the two forces. And in J&K the CRPF has taken the place of the BSF as a CI force and not a riot control force.
