Re: Top 100,000 Websites: Bharat Rakshak!!!

Rakesh, Congratulations. I have many links to BRF, please have someone scan www.orbat.com and I'd be happy to put in more apropos. So I'm 180,000 something? Not too bad considering there's one of me, though I do have 15 editors and 140 people working with us [with us, not for us] Still, not good eno...

Re: Kargil Revisited

This is a discussion that is the true BR standard: lots of facts, little invective, few personal attacks, a genuine attempt to get at the truth. Re. Major Amin: his typist puts in a gazillion exclaimation marks and I dont know why. He really is very well informed. Pakistan army does not talk much on...

Re: Kargil Revisited

Another piece by Major Amin, which I will be running on my site, but which I thought you would like to see. It repeats some of the assertions Major Amin has made in other articles, but there is new stuff in here - not as far as we're concerned, but its new for someone on the other side to have said ...

Re: Who was responsible for Kashmir being taken to the UN?

Prof. Raghu - kindly email me rikhye1@hotmail.com
I have to agree and disagree with Narayanan, and agree with Jagan.
In 1947-48 there was no possibility of going for Sialkot etc. Till a few months earlier, Indian Army had been British-Indian Army. We did not have the senior officers with experia...

Re: Has Pakistan raised a third armoured division?

Sorry, folks - completely forgot to mention that the site Sunil saw that gave the makeup of a Pak Armd Brigade? The gentleman got his info from BRF and orbat.com, and his site is for wargamers, so the unit TOs cannot be taken too literally. Still, there is a generic similarity between units in India...

Re: Has Pakistan raised a third armoured division?

Hi, folks.
(1) The listing of corps commanders, senior commanders is probably from a list Sunil made for orbat.com and then updated by Babar.
(2) If you dont mind my saying this, we shouldn't get too exercised about how many tanks there are with Pakistan. No one will know for sure except the Pak...

Re: Has Pakistan raised a third armoured division?

Sanjay, I have to hand it to you for sticking by your guns: I have to admire that. I have a completely open mind on the issue and while I am 100% out of touch with people who should know, if I come across anything, I'll of course share it with everyone.
32 tanks per Pak regiment: again, am out of ...

Re: Has Pakistan raised a third armoured division?

Hmmm. Sanjay raises a number of interesting points on how orbats are made. I remember reading an artillery article by Maj. Sawhney and it was clear this was a youngster who really knew his stuff.
On the PRO side for a Pakistan third armored division: ever since 33 Mech was converted to 33 Armored,...

Re: Has Pakistan raised a third armoured division?

Oh this American mania for renaming everything. The whole point of a corps is it is a general purpose formation and should not be named strike or holding or pivot or anything.
Anyways: pivot (IMHO) suggests that (1) it can attack or defend; (2) it can move to the left or right to face threats or t...

Re: Has Pakistan raised a third armoured division?

Folks, a pleasure to read the thread - people for once trying to ferret out facts instead of everyone blasting off their opinions!
I'd also go unquestioningly with Mandeep, even if I am now forced o write articles and sign his name for my web magazine, because people keep asking me where he is. Th...

Re: PA Corps and Commanders - II

Thanks for the reference, Sunil. Major Amin as usual writes in great detail and is fascinating as always in his assessments. I would only question raising of 9 Division post 1965. I do not have my notes, but distinctly recall references to its units fighting in Kashmir, 7, 8, 9 being the first divis...

Re: PA Corps and Commanders - II

Sunil, the tone of the news articles regarding Pakistan Army officers doing this that and the other reminds me very much of the Emergency (1975-77) days and the news items of the time. As far as I am concerned, every hour that Col. X and Brig. Y spends on overseeing desilting and anti-drug work is o...

Re: PA Corps and Commanders - II

Mandeep as usual continues to astonish. Have you all seen his ordersofbattle post on Indian and Pakistan tank/mech bdrigades? You are missing something if you havent.
Mandeep: where is 326 Brigade and when was it raised? Parent formation? Where is your post for this week?
Johann has a different ...

Bishwa: I'd like to copy your list to my site with the credit to you and would like you to be responsible for keeping it current and filling it in with greater detail. You would be welcome to use the list elsewhere, as long as the other people credited it to ordersofbattle. I have a similar arrangem...
