When successive governments including dharmic one's which are desh Bhakti, seem to have a common policy or similar policy towards procurement of phoren maal, then, our negotiating strengths are not as good as we think and leverage of phoreners is more than we assume. Polymer notes are the way to go. Sooner the better.

Maybe, it's a Chankian ploy to put the fear of FICN of 2000 into people's minds. This way, people will shy away from the Rs 2000 note, effectively demonetising themselves and saving the gobermint all the hassle. :rotfl:

It will be useful to,watch the new few months and chart the share of electronic transactions in the overall economy, which, hopefully, should increase (but I feel will decrease unless GOI makes key policy changes ) Small denominators are a nuisance but won't stop demand for cash. I think the 3L limit is meaningless. It would have been useful if it was 3L in a time period. (3L per month would make it 36l/year).

With cash withdrawal limits on current and overdraft accounts abolished, one can withdraw unlimited cash amounts. Unless, I am missing something.
