Re: Remembering a War: The 1962 Indo-China War
To make this problem clear, we have to make a difference between some definitions. Both British India and India government recognized china has suzerainty instead of sovereignty on west tibet before 1950. The problem is what is the definition of suzerainty? What is the difference between it and sov...

Mr. Chen; China today APES western culture. you guys CHANGE your names to John; Paul; Andy etc... Statistically speaking there are more INDIAN chinese with names like Hua Yu and Hua Chi RATHER than with names like John Yu and Mary Chi; unlike the chinese diaspora abroad. Rahul Modern Homo sapiens evolved around 40,000 years ago. Perhaps at most a 100,000 years ago at the earliest. Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades
the amazon FFG doesn't have a ESM I think the PN has Thomson ESM kits on their Amazons. Not sure if all 6 Type 21s are equipped with it or only part of the fleet. Considering the lafayettes carry a similar kit, I would assume them to be quite capable of detecting radar emissions from the ka-31s. Wh...

John, If a PN vessel is being probed by any radar it will know. Does not matter if it can see the emitter, it will know. The brahmos or the klub or any other AShM for that matter will use the same general priciple for target acquisition, launch and hit. -o- The onboard comp will have to be loaded wi...

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades
ooops!!! my bad Forgot to convert the units on the left to NM, and used 92.25 km instead of 49.81 NM Therefore going back to the equation 92.25 km = 49.81 NM Therefore 49.81 = 1.169 x sqrt(h) sqrt(h) = 49.81 / 1.169 sqrt(h) = 42.61 h = 42.61^2 h = ~553m MSL More or less the same. The descrepancy is ...

Dear Mr. Technician; Quite right. A 200 kg warhead is going to make any PN surface vessel mission incapable. If it sinks with one shot so much the better - no need for a coup-de-grace after one hit, unless one wants to make a point. Lets see: -o- The Type 21's are firetraps, and would go down with o...

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades
Vick, It would depend. To launch 100+ km from target the launcher would have to use AEW helos to target the PN vessels. So if the helo can "see" the ship to target it, the ship can also "see" the helo. In all probability the captain is going to be alert for an incoming missile, a...

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades
True but even then the max detection range will be 69-70 km from surface vessels - AFAIK the max height it attains is 150 m MSL before jettisoning its rocket boosters and descending to 15 m MSL. I dont think the 150 m make much of a difference if the missile is going to be launched 100+ km from the ...

Sai, it says 14C dating is done on the dead organisms within the rocks. Carbon-14 is a method used for young (less than 50,000 year old) sedimentary rocks. This method relies on the uptake of a naturally occurring radioactive isotope of carbon, carbon-14 by all living things. When living ...

Re: Lost City found off the Mahabalipuram coast
Long, long, long, long time ago we had a physics class on C14 dating. I vaguely recall hearing something about how all living things absorb the C14 isotope as a natural process when living. Life is carbon based and just by day-to-day living creature absorb the C14 isotope. When they die absorption c...

Re: Can IAF Mig-27s do high-altitude bombing?
The MiG 27s were designed and developed keeping the Soviet OMG doctrine in mind. This calls for using these aircraft as short range artilery pieces along-with massive helo support. These a/c and the helos were meant to be the air elements of the OMG, along with the artillery, para and tactical missi...
