Re: Indian Naval News & Discussion - 22 April 2015

Has the construction of P-17a even started? Right now the P-15B's are ahead in construction. Any news on INS Chennai commissioning? It should be in a couple of months.

I am hoping for a attack on the training camps or heck PA camp itself. ANA will be happy to oblige and join in the fun.

Nirbhay, Prahaar, A-5 launch (canister), 155mm guns all are important and left to be qualifird. Not to mention Rustom-II and other UAV's

1250 ton is not a missile boat by any standards. Its a corvette. The question is are these different from the NGMV?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Next_Gene ... le_Vessels

Maybe these are meant to replace the Veer class?

Re: Indian Naval News & Discussion - 22 April 2015

Earlier report from Aroor claimed the new gen corvettes were going to be 2500+ tonne. 1250 tonne boat can barely fit 4 brahmos and will require inclined launchers. I always thought using Kamortas hull with turbine engines and replacing the RBU's with Brahmos VLS would be the way to go.

One reason trade is low is because chamcha nehru did not let IA kick porkis out of PoK in 47'. We need it back soon and have direct connectivity with central asia and Russia.

Who said it was not detected. In the open seas what did you expect IN to do? Sink it?

On the Oz sub..I have a feeling this is another collins in the making. They shd have just stuck with the Soryu's.

The speed of the oil tankers like Deepak is limited to 20 knots. So the entire CBG cannot sprint at 30 Knts only the SSN's can do that.

Unlike france unkil controls all f-16's old or new. Their munnas jordan or turky will not and cannot do anything against their wishes. I am surprized pakis are not trying out J-10B's.

As china's economy crumbles their influence will wane. SA can be made to tow the line or face the consequence.

No strategic weapon system will ever be bought from US. Even US knows that. That's why there is no chance for F-18/35 or anything equivalent to S-400. India US defence deals will stay at transport aircrafts, drones and a few arty pieces level.

Who knows? Maybe Prahaar was tested under guise of the multiple Prithvi missiles. Prahaar would be ideal for IA and can be provided to ANA to counter the Pakis along with our upgraded grads (which will be replace by the new Pinaka-I-mk2).

If IN needs 3 operational CV's by 2022-24 they should order another Vikrant class soon. If they are ok waiting till 2030 for 3 CV's then go with 65K new design with EMAL by all means.

I expect Modi to hit back if china stands in his way. Eleven is no match for him, the only concern is if Obama will be as forceful as GW Bush and send 7-8 carriers to SCS (Future Indo-China Sea).
