A DRDO lab is developing an Integrated Life Support System (ILSS) that would allow pilots flying India's light combat aircraft, Tejas, breathe easily during long haul flights at high altitudes. In 2008? A 'lil surprised. This is an OBOGs which is in development and will be deployed on the LCA. All ...

The TOI article has many sneering attempts(SLIME) in it. First of all SU-30s and Mirages dont need to be jury rigged. That implies some sort of a make do. Those a/c are used for such roles in their country of orgin. And there is no gaping hole for the kind of threat that India faces from TSP and ev...

Not sure how the defense sector will shape up but in the power plant construction and heavy engineering sector, the GoI mandates that during the bidding process, the PSUs automatically get a ~10% benefit in their bids. Meaning that if the PSU's bid is 10% (or less) higher than the next lowest bid, ...

There is a difference in that HALs indigenization drive has paid dividends, and according to both the IAF & audit data (to corroborate the former), they do manufacture most of the aircraft airframe with attendant parts, as well as engines inhouse. Most of these are at the 80-90% level. The ones ...

Gents, might as well add: 13 Aerostats are required by the IAF. Two are in service, upto 4 more are to be ordered. Seven remaining. Why? Add all the recent statements about aerostats, LRDEs advances in radars - and its plausible that an Indian made system is being contemplated. Just a thought.

Thing is that HAL is not exactly majorly into R&D at the system level. The programs they have launched are for an aggregate level, not subsystem & their recent focus on R&D will take a decade to show substantial results (same holds true for any org imho). Hence we wont be able to shoehor...

How can a Kalantak use a 7.62*39 mm ammo mag? Is there anything specific written to that effect?

At the end of the day, Paks AK variants are 7.62 *39 types..they havent even shifted to 5.56 yet. G3's chambered for 7.62*51mm..
And China? It uses 7.62*39 for AKs and 5.8*42mm for its QBZ-95s.
