Yes. Definitely looks like a launch from the rear. Looking forward to the official navy press release.

Perhaps that is why the Kamorta has not been armed with AShM on commissioning.
Makes sense.

Not just Jaitapur. Could the nuclear deal include a more powerful reactor for the SSN and follow on SSBN. Even for INS Vishal?

As in the past, the P75I project cost will probably include payment for tech that has been clandestinely transferred to India so I also think that the contract will go to the Russians.

I'm sure there were foreign dignitaries and military experts witnessing the show, not forgetting the media. All this hopping around is comical and hurts to watch. They should have just done the exhibition in real time mode.

What about the Li-Ion batteries? Like the type being developed in South Korea? Supposed to have twice the density of lead acid batteries thereby giving greater range and quieter ops.

Why not get more scorpenes and get others like L&T to execute the orders? Perhaps we can also dangle the Mistral buy to the french, entice them to offer us their SSN

Stick to plan. Get the Rafales.
Hike the defence budget by .5% of GDP this year and make it 2.5% for 5 years to finance modernisation.
if Modinomics work out in the next few years, problems solved.
If Jaitley gets finance, I'm rooting for Shourie for defence. He'll sort things out.

^^ By whom? By whoever decided that the P-15 would be armed by the Barak-8 without the missile system being ready. They cut it too fine and lost. Now the Kolkata is ready to be commissioned without the Barak-8 and this ship was supposed to be the new generation multi role naval platform and carrier...

Nirbhay may be slow but for tactical reasons if it is mounted on MKI it will be a range booster; 1000km + MKI combat range.

Regarding Barak-8: when is it going to be operational? It is said 3-4 years? Will our new DDGs be without AD till then? This is very poor military planning.

And what stage of development is the Barak-8 now at?

For all our pretensions and aspirations, we did poorly. this had been an opportunity to flaunt our blue water capability. Sure it was inevitable with the shortage of warships vis the forward naval bases.
A lesson to be learnt and prepared for.
