Re: MiG-21 Bison shoots down F-16 in Kashmir

Why is it that Indians of all persuasions and from all walks of life feel compelled to question, doubt, and second guess their own leaders and colleagues at all times and regardless of the situation at hand? The Argumentative Indian is not just a stereotype. It is an archetype. +100 F16 downing is ...

Re: MiG-21 Bison shoots down F-16 in Kashmir

Offtopic - I think the mistake we make is thinking pak is "just like us". It is not. We are a very diverse, chaotic, unruly, noisy democracy where everyone has a opinion and no one is shy to shout it from rooftops. Pak is a feudal state perpetually under de-facto martial law. End of offtop...

Re: MiG-21 Bison shoots down F-16 in Kashmir

Our armed forces and our govt have clearly said that a F16 was downed. This is not 1965. I am sure they have ample information to say that even if they lack proof that can be presented openly. I believe our armed forces.(No disrespect to the veterans posting here). We already know how duplicitous Pa...

Our establishment is taking a very firm line. There are absolutely no conciliatory noises. The tri-service chiefs press-meet showed about as hard a stand as can be taken without openly calling war. There will always be background diplomacy. Pak has been very effectively isolated. And for once our TV...

Yes GOI needs to take a stand. If Modi or another senior official does not speak formally, that gives all kinds of BS to spread. This is the first time we are having this kind of a confrontation in the age of social media. GOI needs to take advantage of that while the iron is hot.

Its not unworkable at all. GoI action and public action complement each other. One is not a substitute for the other. Without public anger govt will not have the means to levy duties on cheap products and make them unaccessable to the public. Even a 10% drop in sales is a good barometer of public mo...

Suraj, once public opinion is mobilized things get a life of its own. Last diwali there was a huge boycott of Chinese lights diyas and such trinkets. It was a spontaneous thing by the people and was serious enough to reduce sales of Chinese imports by 15 to 20% in just 1 month in most of the metros.
