Does anyone know what the status of the Embraer-based AEWs is? Info available online implies everything needed to operationalize them was ready before the planes were delivered and all that remained was integration and testing. That was in 2011. Is it operational?

Well those 4 radars are going to have a global launch at AI-15. They are gearing up for export but obviously nobody will buy them because the company is a privately owned dalal instead of a PSU dalal. Waste of time, effort and money.

Ah, it is cold soaking. Just looked it up and it means the fuel is very cold. When a plane lands after a flight at high altitude, it is said to be cold soaked. The test LCA got cold soaked by merely being parked at high altitude.

Regarding APU, they are designed to produce electrical power when the main engine is not running to operate accessories like internal lights, air conditioning etc. For fighters, a dedicated starter to start the main engine and EPU for the cockpit are sufficient so LCA probably doesn't have one. 1. The IAF's business is defending the territory of India, not running factories. I agree with this. But given the utter failure of HAL/DRDO/ADA in its eyes, it is desperately looking for competitors to fill the space.
