Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
Came across this article that was written soon after the end of the cold war during the "unipolar moment" and wanted to share. https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1991-05-04-1991124019-story.html In Search of a Credible Threat By SEEMA SIROHI Baltimore Sun • May 04, 1991 WASHINGTON — ...

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
Aditi Phadnis confirms that EAM Jaishankar's trip to the US in May did not go too well. Not only was he not received properly but also subject to lectures on minority rights. Democrats fully intend to utilise the human rights agenda as a stick to create negative leverage. I expect non stop hitjobs a...

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
In an article written by Rep. Mark Green, it has been argued that if India goes ahead with procuring the S-400, then not only will the US cease intelligence cooperation with India but also scrap the defence partnership. The author's minimum non-negotiable requirement is cessation of ALL defence purc...

A somewhat skeptical take on the quad. https://nationalinterest.org/feature/can-quad-transform-alliance-contain-china-180786 Can the Quad Transform Into an Alliance to Contain China? Whither the “Quad”? Is the Quad, or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue—a loose grouping of likeminded Indo-Pacific natio...

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
It's ridiculous for the US government to offer David Headley a plea deal with the condition that he cannot be extradited to India, when his crime took place in India and most of his victims are Indians. I wonder whether our Government protested this at that time.

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
I am sharing below an article written by an analyst from The Hudson Institute, where our EAM had earlier this month held an interaction with Gen McMaster. The article is being shared in full as some readers may not be able to read it behind the paywall. The gist of it seems to be if India refuses to...

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
The American establishment seems to be conflicted between two contradictory goals. While their hostility to the BJP was always thinly disguised, there is an unprecedented urgency to topple the Modi government especially after the revocation of Article 370, Ram Janmabhoomi case and CAA. The COVID sec...

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
If we go by the writings of the American academia and media, then we can observe an unremitting hostility to India and Hinduism in particular that was there much before independence. The narrative about India was negative even during the time of PM Nehru, an Anglophile liberal. My view is that the I...

However, even after NRC and self-deportation the demographic problem will persist in WB and AS like in Kerala. Thank you for the detailed response. I hope the NPR can be successfully completed as last year census workers were even attacked in some parts of India on the misperception that they are c...
