Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018

Our NGARM weight (estimated) 600kg warhead 60kg seems like a good candidate for Air to Air ARM. Might have a range of 200-400 km in lofted profile against a low G maneuvering airborne target.

The image on page 5, it could well be a AAM, we dont from the scaled down model. Given it has 8 external control surfaces, AAM would be a very likely candidate, with the 1 stage pushing the missile to MAch 4+ and dropping off the 2nd stage igniting to give end game energy to the missile. The important differences between Mirage 2000 and MWF shall be

Longer Range
Better low speed & low altitude maneuver ability
Better take off and landing run
Better radar, avionics, maaws & Spj
Better RCS

What else we need? How much difference is there between 747, 777, 380 etc?

One of the areas where LCA MK2 may be able to do weight optimisation is landing gear, compared to LCA MK1. 6500 kg payload capacity may not all be used only for weapons as 3000-3500kg may go for fuel tanks in long range missions. Though I think that we must order 1 extra squadron of MK1 and 2 extra ...
